The hotel is great. It absolutely exceeded my expectations. There is a nice restaurant on the 9th floor (reservations are a must). Very nice breakfast/brunch canteen as well (open in the evening as well). There is a small drink/food shop as well. The view from the top of the hotel is gorgeous - make sure even if it is not pool season to go and take a look at Lion's head. Totally recommend. For Cape Town it is essential to have all these at hand without the need to walk out at evening. Area was okay but still Cape Town for me is not really a place for evening stroll. During the day - it is close to the beach and Beach road with a lot of people, bars, etc.

Well, Where to start. One of the top 3 hotels I've ever been in my life. And I'm traveling a lot in my life. Me in my wife just got married and it's been the best choice for our honeymoon. The staff were kind like a family. Always to keep us happy. The room was huge, Best shower I've ever took(!!!) for real. Nothing compare to the this place shower. Its the little things that make the difference. The breakfast was always tip top! Thank for everything. Best stay!

FAQs about hotels in Cape Town

Cool, Colourful Cape

Between mountains and beaches, the 2nd largest city in South Africa mixes history, resilient modernity, and a typical laidback African character. From the top of Table Mountain to the colourful Bo Kaap quarter, and from the Victoria & Albert Waterfront to the modern business district, Cape Town blends multicultural influences and beautiful nature.

Known as Kaapstad in Afrikaans, its sunny weather and mild temperatures make it a perfect place to enjoy the large number of beaches that surround it. From Sunset Beach to Hout Bay, and from Simon’s Town to Gordon Bay, this city offers a variety that suits all tastes. Whale and dolphin watching is a popular activity in False Bay.

Located on the Cape of Good Hope, the city was founded in 1652 by a Dutch trading company as a way-station for ships travelling to the East Indies. With the settling process, all sorts of foreign plants were introduced, including the grapes in the famous Cape Winelands District, just outside Cape Town.

Cape Town’s history does have some darker periods, and some of its memorable places from this time deserve to be visited: Robben Island jail, the City Hall from which Nelson Mandela gave his first public speech, and the statues of the 4 South African Nobel Peace Prize winners on the V&A Waterfront.

I am lucky enough, through my job as a flight attendant, to travel the world, and Cape Town is simply my favourite place in the world. Cape Town has everything. Scenery, mountains, beaches, vineyards and the food and drink is reasonably priced and the best I have ever tasted. Cape Town is simply stunning.

A very diverse and lovely city with all sorts of attractions. Vibrant food culture with world-class offerings to satisfy any palate. Gorgeous beaches and iconic Table Mountain to explore. Very friendly local people. Safety is an ongoing issue. Do not carry a lot of cash, wear expensive jewely or flashy attire. Do not walk alone off the beaten path at night. Take an Uber or taxi to be safe.

This hotel is excellent, and I highly recommend it for families due to its spacious rooms. It is located in a great area to experience the various attractions Cape Town has to offer. We especially enjoyed the complimentary shuttle services to the V&A Waterfront. The service is outstanding. If you decide to stay at a Southern Sun Hotel, I suggest spending at least two nights at this hotel before booking at the Waterfront. The MyCitySightseeing bus is a street away, approximately a 3-minute walk.
