There is absolutely nothing to see in Citrusdal, according to our hosts. They sent us to Clanwilliam for the Saturday. I was the last day of the Wild Flower show, so we went and enjoyed it. Otherwise, we had to view orange pickers shopping or loitering in the streets. Not our chosen pass time anymore. If you've seen one, you've seen them all. We actually went that direction, from Cape Town, to experience the hot spring baths, but it was fully booked for the Friday and Saturday, and no day visitors are allowed. We, however got a room for the Sunday night, at a special price of R1600 for the two of us, at The Baths, some 18 km out of Citrusdal. Very expensive but superb! Albeit, also, strangely enough, no coffee or tea or refreshments awaiting you in your quite expensive suite. But the accommodation is stunning. So whenever you want to go flower watching, cart all your stuff along, the nice Westcoast people isn't giving away no free coffee :)

The healing waters of the spring.

The healing waters of the spring. The rock pools are so great, relaxing ... your body and spirit are renewed after relaxing in the pool or rock pools. The absolute quietness are wonderful. Each property or house is designed so that you feel you are the only people around. Love the privacy and connecting with nature. After 43 years of visiting the property love all the upgrades and that it still keep the historic buildings in such a good condition.

I will never return as everything from the Maintenace round the pool, inside the chalet and outside was not done. Area in the reception was disgusting and open wires under the jacuzzi and outside the chalet after what seems to be a geyser that was replaced. No Wifi for 24 hours on arrival, no water for 3 hours, jacuzzi not working and tripping all the time, grass in the main pool area left very long during peak season TRULY A POOR EXPERIENCE AND I WIL NEVER GO BACK

We absolutely loved our 1 night stay at this lovely little cottage set amongst beautiful surroundings. The added bonus was the hot tub and also having a tv. The kitchen was equipped with everything we needed and when we needed assistance in resetting our hot water cylinder which had tripped when there was loadshedding, someone arrived immediately to attend to it. Be sure to order your wood when you arrive. This was also delivered to us promptly. The bed was extremely comfortable and the lighting next to the bed was excellent for reading at night. It was good value for money and will definitely be going back.

Citrusdal is 20 kms from the resort and is a one horse town with nothing to offer tourism. Every street is full of potholes, and there is a very limited retail offering. There is Hot Spring resort about 12 kms outside Citrusdal but they do not allow day visitors.

The setting of Citrusdal in the valley backed by impressive mountain peaks is most attractive. The town is home to a working community. For tourists, it offers convenient access to the Cederberg Mountains whether explored by car or on foot.

We recently celebrated our 37th wedding anniversary with a truly memorable stay at The Baths in Citrusdal. Surrounded by the beauty of nature, it was the perfect escape—peaceful, rejuvenating, and filled with quiet charm. The warm mineral baths felt like mystical healing pools, soothing every tired muscle and restoring our spirits. We also enjoyed exploring the safe hiking trails and spotting a variety of birdlife in this little piece of paradise. It was a magical experience that we’ll treasure forever.

The whole cottage was extremely well-kept and clean. The hosts made our arrival effortless. We easily ordered wood before our arrival and topped it up with a quick message to the groundskeeper. The whole venue is tucked in a narrow valley close to Citrusdal, making for spectacular sunrises and sunsets. The hot tub was pre-warmed upon request, and it was very clean. Hop to Citrusdal for breakfast or some groceries, it's conveniently close.

The location of the accommodation was spectacular and the 2-bedroomed chalet was neat and well appointed. It was close to nature, but still had all the comforts of home such as air conditioning throughout. We loved the hot tub and the upcycled pool was the perfect way to cool off in the intense Citrusdal heat. The gas stove was very useful during loadshedding and we loved the large beds and freshly ground coffee provided.

Splendid location at the top of the Piekenierskloof Pass with views from my terrace down to Citrusdal and over to Sneeuberg peak. Comfortable and spacious room, nice restaurant with views, good service.
