Our host is a great man. He has a beautiful and very safe place. Clean rooms and linen and the water as well. With bed heaters, you won't worry about the cold in winter. The house has everything you need during your stay.Nono is a wonderful and amazing woman she did her best to make our stay enjoyable.. the location is great. There is station and Spar and restaurant and Sunday river adventure just within 5 min. If you're doing( self drive )in Addo from the south gate in just 3 minutes, you will be in Addo. You have to know all activities start from Addo main camp (45min from south gate) except self drive you can drive from south gate next to your stay. Definitely, i will come again and highly recommend it to everyone.

Everything was spot on. Good communication before arrival and a really friendly welcome. Breakfast was awesome. Home made goodies. You will NOT leave here hungry! Tinnies and Evert are brilliant hosts with lots of useful information about the area. Really handy for Addo Park and there is a great restaurant close by. Highly recommended. Home from home.

The room was great. Comfortable matress, and the quietest ceiling fan in the world. Breakfast was delicious. Fruit and jams from the garden, and local eggs, plus fresh baked bread. Suzette and Tim were caring and professional. They wantrd the first Canadians to stay there to enjoy ourselves. We did. Canucks, book a visit soon. Tim drove us in his game viewer around Addo. We saw beautiful sites and many animals in their natural setting around the huge park. Our 2-day stay was unforgettable. Very close to a well-stocked SPAR, gas station and popular Taste of Africa restaurant. 5 minute drive away.

We stayed at Dungbeetle River Lodge for 2 nights while...

We stayed at Dungbeetle River Lodge for 2 nights while visiting Addo. We arrived in the late afternoon and then took a full day game drive from the lodge. It was a bit much for us and would do a morning game drive next time. The experience was awesome, it was just too long for our pensioner bodies! Staying 2 nights was perfect because the evening gave us a nice recovery period before we hit the road for our return to Cape Town. Dungbeetle River Lodge was a perfect location from which to travel into Addo. It's literally 3 minutes from the south gate of the park.

Not a quaint little tourist town, and somewhat disappointed with our stay (for choice of shops, restaurants and ease of access to the river, lack of info for St Croix marine reserve). The Sand dunes are spectacular, but also not easy to access as on private property. The day visit permit is affordable (via Pearson resort) yet this information is not easily available to visitors. Close proximity to Addo South Gate which is great. Some marketing PR would go a long way!

It is a dusty , dirty place a favorite stop-over for long distance lorry drivers and all that they bring with them. The only :restaurants" which are really only fast food eatery's and not very good a that. the only thing Colchester has got going for it is that is very convenient for the Addo Elephant park, other than that it is not worth a visit.

As a teenager I basically grew up in Colchester, not the asea as such, but we did a lot of camping over the years with friends and family. The views are just spectacular and if you love fishing it gets even better as it is a fisherman`s paradise.

The proximity to Addo National Park, River Cruises on the Sundays River was excellent. The Taste of Africa Restaurant was a delight with friendly staff and delicious cuisine. Shopping facilities were pleasant.

We stayed at the Addo Riverside Villa, Colchester, and never regretted having done so. Wayne, the owner/manager was oozing knowledge about the vicinity. The advice he gave made us feel like we knew the place. The ambience of the Addo Riverside Villa, Colchester, was astounding - built on the bank of the Sundays River with boats galore. The other attraction that will make us go back is the walking trail along the river bank. Wayne`s sense of humour leaves you pondering.

My wife and I have stayed in Colchester a few times and Settle Inn certainly rates as one of the best we have visited. We love the proximity to Addo as that was the reason we visited. Very friendly staff and couple, who manages the guest house. They were very welcoming and had some great recommendations. The breakfast was delicious as well. We like that it is a eco-friendly place. They are also providing the opportunities for game drive, which we unfortunately could not enjoy due to a short stay. We are looking forward to come back.
