This place is a step back in time and is amazing. The owners are the some of the nicest people you can ever hope to meet. I arrived on a Sunday during a motorcycle trip through Cape and had managed to get a puncture. It didnt take long for the owner to have the bike in their own workshop wheel off and on it way to being repaired. The hotel is actively involved in the motorcycle scene in the area was soon introduced to other who came to chat Motorcycle travel. What an awesome evening and a great sleep.

We spent a night at the farm and had a very restful time. Beautiful scenery and peaceful atmosphere. Lovely accomodation with everything you need on hand. The host was very helpful and I would highly recommend a stay over here.

The cottage is perfect for a short or long stay.

The cottage is perfect for a short or long stay. There is a large back patio with built-in braai, protected from the water and a front stoep to soak in the beautiful views. The bathrooms are really spacious with large walk in showers. The kitchen is well equipped and the beds are very comfortable. There is no TV but fast wifi so streaming from your phone is easy.

It is a very quaint and tranquil little town bout 30 km from Oudtshoorn in the Western Cape. There is an ample amount of restaurants and wine shops and a few souvenir shops. Spending a full day to experience the real charm of the little village. While there take a short drive into Meiringspoort and discover CJ Langenhovens carved stone with the inscription Herry, which was the name of his imaginary elephant or travel up to the waterfall, all a mere 10 or 12 kim from De Rust.

De Rust is a beautiful, picturesque town and good for your mental health to get away and re-charge. The eatery/shop in De Rust, called Pluim/ Frieda Schoeman is highly recommended. Well worth a visit

De Rust is a small rustic town ideal for an overnight stop enroute somewhere else. Everything is within walking distance. The town is spotlessly clean, people are very friendly and helpful. It is surrounded by magnificent mountains and very close to the must see Meirings Poort. Lovely coffee shops for breakfast and lunch with one restaurant open for dinner.

A small town surrounded by the great outdoors.

A small town surrounded by the great outdoors. Close to Meiringspoort and the waterfall. A great stopover for coffee or a meal or to get well basic necessities if you stay in the area. The Domein Doornkraal padstal is an absolute must on the way to Oudtshoorn. Stay at Aardts cabin if you staying over in the area.

Varkenskraal is an undiscovered jewel. The property is situated in a very scenic, secluded part of the Meiringspoort which is close to the town De Rust. The house which we stayed in was spotlessly clean, well equipped and very comfortable. Whilst there is limited cellphone coverage in the area, the property has a strong Wi-Fi network . I highly recommended this property to anybody who wants to break away from the hustle and bustle of mainstream accommodation options.

We had a wonderful time at De Rusty farm -- it was incredible value for money. Karla and her husband were very hospitable, and when we found a small garden snake in our room they were really helpful in immediately coming to remove it (with plenty of regard for us and for the snake). It's also an excellent stopping point on the way to Eastern Cape.

Werner and Bennedet were some of the best hosts we ever experienced ,meeting us at our car when we arrived and helping with luggage. Hotel very old but being renovated. It's like booking into a hotel 50 years ago with decor well preserved and functional. Dinner was exceptionally good .
