The best part of Franschhoek has to be the wine!

The best part of Franschhoek has to be the wine! We visited 12 wineries in 3 days, 2 of which were on the Wine Tram. Thoroughly enjoyed them all! Staying centrally in a guest house was a good choice as it allowed us to explore Main Street with all its shops and restaurants at our own pace on foot. We liked the Tuk Tuk experience that we decided to take to a nearby winery and found it great cost effective fun. The scenery is stunning wherever you turn-- nice to just take it in at a leisurely pace. Food was excellent everywhere and the wine-- well, that's the icing on the cake! Small town atmosphere appreciated after a larger and busier Stellenbosch. Would go back in a heartbeat.

Beautiful town in SA with French heritage infused into many aspects of the town. The town also boast with cute clothing boutiques show casing local and international brands. I loved the jewelry stores where you can get excellent deals on diamonds and tanzanite's. Ideal for those who want to explore wine farms. The Franshoek wine tram was a wonderful experience. We hopped on and of a cute train that dropped us of by the most beautiful wine farms. We got great deals on wine tastings and pairing and discounts on wine. Highly recommend.

Franschhoek is located in a stunningly beautiful valley.

Franschhoek is located in a stunningly beautiful valley. The historic town is full of charm. There are dozens of great restaurants within walking distance in town and many gorgeous wineries just a short distance away. We spent our days sipping wine and eating fabulous food at very affordable prices. Our favourite town in South Africa's wine region.

What a gorgeous place to be! Views are breathtaking, people are so kind and friendly, outstanding restaurants and shops line the main street. And - for those who worry - absolutely safe and extremely clean. It truly is lovely.

We always enjoy visiting Franschoek.

We always enjoy visiting Franschoek. During this trip, we found a place which seems to be very special and different from the surrounding luxurious wine estates, The Franschhoek Station Pub & Craft Bar. It is a very down to earth vibey place full of history with its Herbert Baker heritage architecture, standing as a reminder of the bustling railway activity that once existed in Franschoek. We enjoyed a nice Sunday lunch, a few beers from a wide selection, and the live music. There is a play area for the children near the seating area perfect for the visiting families. On a Monday morning, we had coffee and a healthy breakfast at the Brunch Club on Main Rd Franschoek. Reasonable prices and a nice atmosphere. Nice place to work from for the laptop nomads. Parking on Main Rd Franschoek on a Monday morning is R5 per 30minutes, and the parking assistant insisted that I swipe my card for R5 and if I return and it is more than R5, I must swipe it again. I informed her the bank charges will be higher than R5 and she said, she knew that. She did not accept cash, and would not let us pay when we return so that the amount is a little higher than R5 to justify the bank fees. Its a reminder that the government will always find a way to mess up your day and to remind you to be creative. We were driving a bakkie (pick up truck), so we found a loading zone (yellow lines labelled with a yellow "L") and parked there for free. In SA you can park your pick up truck on a loading zone free of charge. In the same premises where the The Franschhoek Station Pub & Craft Bar is, is the Pick n Pay Supermarket which was still open on Sunday afternoon for grocery shopping. The Franschoek hospice shop is also in the same premises, for the bric a brac treasure hunters and those who wish to support this charity. Franschoek is full of surprises for those who look!

Our stay at this hotel in Franschhoek was highlighted by the complimentary wine tasting at Rickety Bridge, a thoughtful gesture that set the tone for a memorable visit. The service was exceptionally attentive, with the convenience of being able to contact them anytime via WhatsApp.Nestled in the picturesque surrounds of a renocated farm, the ambiance was charming.

Our room was excellent with a lovely bed and a view of the beautiful Franschhoek mountains. The bathroom is well designed with a bath and a great shower. The best thing is that the hotel is in the centre of the quaint Franschhoek village, a few steps away from great restaurants, shops, and art galleries.

Absolutely loved it! We had a suite in the manor and our son had a suite in winery wing. We thoroughly loved it. Best views of Franschhoek with some of the nicest, thoroughly professional hotel and ground staff we’d had the distinct pleasure of meeting during our 2-week’s stay in Cape Town.
