The manor house is absolutely beautiful, and it was obvious that no costs were spared in the design of the interior. Rooms are very spacious and well-appointed with most rooms featuring luxurious ensuite bathrooms. There are many different seating areas throughout the house that can be closed off to spend time in privacy. The indoor BBQ (braai) area is spacious and has a huge floor to ceiling glass sliding door that opens up to the large lawn with swimming pool. It was great to spend the early morning on the covered, wind-sheltered veranda (stoep), looking over the adjacent vineyards. The kind domestic staff were very discreet and unobtrusive and made the beds and cleaned the kitchen without us even knowing they were there. Very close to Stellenbosch and Franschhoek and the range of tourist facilities in the area. I would highly recommend a stay at Mount Vernon Manor and predict that once this "newcomer" is discovered it would become increasingly difficult to find availability at such an exceptional property.

We had a wonderful stay at Mitre's Edge Vinyard Studio. The staff were very friendly and went out of their way to meet our special requests. It's a very beautiful apartment with a lovely garden on the farm where you can sit peacefully. Definitely good value for money. I will recommend it to anyone.

Labourie wine farm is excellent in every aspect! The room was spacious and nicely furnished; the bathroom lovely and big with a great shower - very good water pressure! The staff were all friendly and efficient - not a single unpleasant or unhelpful one among them. The location couldn't be better - very close to downtown Paarl but far enough to make you feel you're totally elsewhere. The wine farm is large and has 3 restaurants to choose from - lovely surroundings and a stately manor house dating from around 1692.

The best thing about Klapmuts is that it's right between Stellenbosch and Paarl, so one can easily roam the Paarl, Stellenbosch, Franschhoek and Helderberg wine regions from a base in Klapmuts. Plus it's much cheaper to stay there than in Paarl or Stellenbosch because it isn't trendy and upmarket like those two places. Well, it's cheaper because it's Klapmuts – the town itself is small, impoverished and very plain, and shops close early.
