This was our favorite stop on the Garden Route. We felt welcomed like family by the owners (who went out of their way to accommodate our gluten-free dietary and other needs) and their friendly animals (dogs, donkeys and a cat) Rooms were clean and matched the unique style of the common areas. The hosts are just great; they really made the stay. The property is filled with light and has everything you need for a comfortable stay. There are lots of birds (and baboons, so watch your personal belongings on the terrace). My only regret is that we did not stay longer. There are also tons of activities in and around the area to keep you occupied for a few days.

From the moment we arrived, we were enchanted by the peaceful setting and the tasteful and elegant decor of the lodge. What truly made our stay unforgettable was the perfect combination of the tranquility of the surrounding nature and the high-end comfort offered by the lodge. Waking up to the sound of birds and falling asleep under a starry sky while enjoying discreet luxury was a real delight. We would like to extend our special thanks to Caroll and Bronwan for their availability and attentive listening. Thanks to their valuable advice, we were able to explore the region in a unique and authentic way. Their in-depth knowledge of the area and their sense of hospitality greatly contributed to the quality of our stay. Breakfasts were a treat every morning, with a variety of fresh and delicious choices. As for the dinners, they were simply sublime, a big thank you to Randall for his culinary talents. Each meal was an experience in itself, combining local flavors and creative touches. Can`t thank you enough, arrived on the Friday,9th very tired and very heartsore, have lost my husband very unexpectedly exactly 5 months prior, to a heart attack, that came from nowhere. This was my first official outing on my own and the cottage was all I needed. Went to one of my best friends son`s wedding at Kay and Monty Vineyard on the Saturday , sadly she had died the year before my husband , so the cottage was such bliss and peace and nuturing for my sore soul. A beautiful region, with excellent restaurants. The Grootrivier and (Western Cape part of) the Bloukrans River passes are exceptional, as is Nature's Valley. The Birds of Eden is THE world leading bird conservancy -- the biggest anywhere with free flying birds in a magnificent forest with a beautiful kloof, waterfall ,,, The nearby Monkeyland and Jukani conservancies are also probably the best in Africa. Thyme & Again restaurant is also a favourite.

This is definitely not a family holiday spot!

This is definitely not a family holiday spot! It could, at best, be a backpackers lodge. The water in the bathrooms was brownish, and although there were assurances that it was healthy, we were sceptical. The rooms were tiny and barely furnished. The kitchen is communal and almost 100 meters away from the rooms - very inconvenient for those rainy days! What about the toilet and bathroom outside the rooms! We had surely booked the wrong place, and stayed only for one night out of four.

Its a wonderful place to stay, especially since it is 18kms from Plettenberg Bay, so its more serene than Plett over the height of summer. There is a lot to do in the vicinity. We loved our visits to the elephant sanctuary (an absolute must-do), the wolf sanctuary, Birds of Eden, Tenikwa (wildlife rehabilitation), Jukani (wildlife sanctuary, especially for Big Cats) and Monkeyland. There's a super water park (Adventureland) about 19kms away, with fabulous waterslides. We made the mistake of not booking restaurants for dinner in advance. Over late December / early January most places were fully booked, which really limited our options and we spent a lot of time calling around, which we could have avoided. I would scout the restaurants and book well in advance next time.

The cabin was located in the forest and felt really wild. There were a few hiking trails you can take just from the cabin. We did not expect that some of the would be so wild but we loved it. We didn't have neighbors nearby so it felt really private. The location was convenient, only 15 min driving from Plettenberg Bay. Nearby there are a few sanctuaries with animals worth visiting. Outside of the cabin we had a fire pit. We had a bonfire one night. It was unforgettable.

This hotel was amazing! Set in the middle of a forest. Beautiful outdoor space. Rooms were gorgeous. Staff were lovely. We especially loved talking to Wonderful. Such an interesting man and he made our stay so welcome and interesting. Evening meal was good. Limited menu and you booked in advance. We would highly recommend a night or two here. Loved it! It was our favourite accommodation in South Africa.

Lily Pond has a beautiful setting, very friendly and helpful staff and we enjoyed a delicious breakfast as well. It was perfectly located to attend a wedding close by. The location is also very close to wine farms and beautiful Plettenberg bay and Nature’s Valley.
