We have been very privileged to stay on this beautiful working wine farm. The location is perfect for a few days rest in stunning surroundings. If you enjoy birds and wine you will be in heaven. The guest house is lovely, spotlessly clean and very comfortable. Charne the house manager and Chrissie her number two are perfect hosts. We ordered a cheese and meat platter from the restaurant which was made up and placed in the guest house fridge for us the enjoy with some delicious wine later in the evening. I would highly recommend this place. And will be doing so to anyone visiting this area.

We had a wonderful stay and will definitely stay there in future. The property is beautiful, quiet and perfectly located. Ina is a great host and as a family of dog lovers, we loved being greeted by Lily and Zabo in the morning. I can’t fault this property.

Nice guesthouse tuck in the calmer part of the city (albeit in walking distance from the high street). Friendly and welcoming owners, comfy bed, AC worked like a charm, fully stocked bathroom. The breakfast was to die for - the best we had in South Africa so far. WiFi worked amazingly well, you can enjoy working from the garden. Finally, there's a broad selection of Belgian beers available (if you have any preference - shoot a note to the owner when making the reservation, he'd have it ice cold for you).

The host was waiting for us with a big welcome! The room was clean and neat, the charming garden was so relaxing. We were safe and comfortable and although the wind was howling, we tucked up with a good Netflix movie and enjoyed the coffee that was available in the unit. The rate was affordable for a short stay.

I can't say that I explored Wellington.

I can't say that I explored Wellington. Our destination was the wine route & Franschoek. I found the shopping centre that has a Woolworths, to be really nice, as was our food shopping experience. An appeal would be quirky, but typically old Cape restaurants, shops at that highlights Wellington itself. It was a very pleasant stay, thank you.

I've been visiting Wellington once a year for quite a few...

I've been visiting Wellington once a year for quite a few years now. It's an absolute hidden gem - very few of my friends have ever been. It has a genuine small-town charm, people are super friendly, and there are many wine farms in the area to explore and are cheaper than those in Franschhoek or Stellenbosch. Don't expect fireworks: expect laid back relaxation with a glass of wine and a few laughs with the locals. PS: Although I'm writing this review, I do hope others don't discover how beautiful it is. I'd like to keep this for myself ;) ;) ;)

We were attending a family wedding at the Tannery which was magical. The weather in Wellington was warm and sunny with little to no wind which was a welcome relief after the wind in Cape Town. We enjoyed being able to walk from our guest House into town to have a lovely dinner at Osteria Prego and a breakfast at 55 Croissants. The car museum at the Tannery was an unexpected surprise. We unfortunately did not have time to try any of the wine farms in Wellington but had a lovely day out in Franschoek doing the wine Tram (Pink route).

Have visited Wellington before - we love it.

Have visited Wellington before - we love it. Plenty of things to do fo adults, but maybe not as much for children. Shops, vineyards, restaurants and scenery to die for. Fave places to eat range from the Geko lounge (best sushi in the world) modest pricing, to Hope at Diemersfontein (2 or 3 course meals with an Aisian twist) It's a great place to use as a base to see the local area - beach, golf, vineyards, safari, wildlife etc. People are incredibly friendly and eager to accommodate.

I liked this small, quaint and peaceful town very much. It is not as busy as Paarl which had far more traffic than we anticipated. Wellington still retains the countryside tranquility which one wants when travelling out from the city. And it even has a small Mall with literally everything you need, from Woolies and Clicks to Checkers and a Spur Steak Ranch! Also enough restaurants and pubs to ensure a bit of a social life for those who might feel hedged in at the guesthouses. We did not have time to explore the town but hopefully will do so upon our return visit.

Our stay started off with a bump.

Our stay started off with a bump. The reception staff did not let us know that if you came in after 10H30 that you had to use a back door. I would suggest that they put up a notice and direction to wear to go, as well as a visible emergency no. We struggled for one hour to get to our room, and it was raining. This was Friday night. A wonderful breakfast very, help full staff and that bad experience was a faded memory. I would be coming back, for the view, the food, and the wine it was a sanctuary to get away to. I love the town, but you could just stay in and enjoy Val du Charron and all it has to offer. Remember your back door!

Oude Wellington State, is very well situated and the setting, in the middle of the vineyards and tall mountains is magnificent. We loved the peaceful environment and the traditional Cape Dutch styled buildings, a real throwback from the past. The service, including the breakfasts, are exceptional. We will definitely be back again.
