It is a simple cabaña, but here come the pluses: in a clearing among the mountains, panoramic windows in the living area and in the bedroom, spotless clean, simply furnished but with great care, stocked with food and beverages available at reasonable prices. Silence and outdoor chairs on which to lounge, watching the sun go down, and later, the starry sky. Pure bliss and relaxation.

Oh, wow, this place only has three rooms, so please get one if you can! The front is unassuming, there’s not even a sign outside, so you have to drive up to the gate using Google maps and just hope you’re at the right place. Ring the bell, and friendly Martín will open the gate and bring you in through the laundry room. At this point my partner was raising his eyebrows, not knowing what to expect, but Martín led us through a rustic but stylish kitchen and into an incredible dining/breakfast room, followed by a patio with mountain views. And then there’s the key, like something out of DaVinci Code, ancient and huge, followed by an incredible room with beautiful decor, wall art, and textiles galore. It’s in town, but perfectly silent at night, and the light and temperature are perfect.

Set in a charming early 20th Century adobe and stone house, Sala de Payogasta offers Breakfast and there is restaurant. The town hall is 1 km away.
