I have absolutely nothing bad to say about our stay in the Hengifoss lodge. It's a dream to stay here. Once entered you're greeted by the warm smell of ember caused by the wood that was used to make this house. The colours and the layout of the room is incredibly cosy. The fireplace keeps the house (almost too) warm, and the window + terrace give an exceptional view over the lake and mountains. The hosts are also amazing and gave us the feeling that we're not only welcome, but also that they really understand why we chose to go to Iceland. We asked for help with our fireplace and the host, Isabelle, came to the rescue. She tried to help us to lit a fire but to no avail. We did however have a really good conversation. However when she left, we were content enough. Yet still she knocked on the door and winked us to come over. She told us enthusiastically that the Northern Lights were dancing and fully visible, we had to come outside! The next morning it was kind of raining, a little bit. But the sun was also shining through the clouds. The husband, Steff, called me when I was standing on the terrace. He said: "There is a rainbow there!" and pointed towards slightly behind the house I was standing in front of. I walked to the side and indeed saw a beautiful rainbow. This might not say much to other people wanting to stay there. But to me it feels like these people have such a connection with Iceland, its beauty and understand that we are there for the same connection, they told us to look at beautiful views which Iceland offers, and we were delighted to follow their guidance. Thank you Isabelle and Steff, for the warm welcome. Whenever we're in Iceland and planning to go near Eggs, we will definitely make use of your beautiful little houses.

Starmýri 2 Cottages is gelegen in Starmýri met uitzicht op de bergen en heeft gratis WiFi. Geweldig huisje de omgeving komt niet goed uit op de foto's maar deze is formidabele echt een aanrader om dit huisje te huren een dikke 10.

Sólbrekka Holiday Homes is gelegen in Mjóifjörður. Deze vakantiewoning met uitzicht op de zee en de bergen, en biedt ook gratis WiFi. The host has been absolutely wonderful. Very helpful and proactive as the situation was uncertain because of the weather.

From the warm greeting by the owners who treat you like family to the excellent beds and showers to the exceptional breakfast (mostly home made from scratch) we had the most wonderful time. You also get full access to the huge and more than well equipped kitchen so you can prepare your own meals. Going riding is a pleasure as well, the horses are well schooled and the surroundings are beautiful. We will definitely go back there next time we're in the East Fjords.

The house in the sleepy, remote village is one of the few accommodations in the area offering all amenities (including a washer and dryer) and the comfort of staying alone. The kitchen is perfectly equipped. Overall, the house possesses some continental European flair, which feels nice.

Wonderful all around i would give 100 out of 10. You will find everything you need and the owner was extremely nice supportive and friendly. We got stuck in storm where we couldn’t go out anywhere that day. He invited us to some hot and cold spa nearby. He treated us like a family. One of the things we will never forget and wish we can thank you enough.

Stóri-Bakki cosy cottage near Egilsstaðir-Jökull ligt in Stóri-Bakki, en biedt accommodatie met een patio en gratis WiFi. Dit appartement heeft een tuin en gratis privéparkeren. Such a cute little cabin and felt more spacious than the photos looked! We saw the northern lights going outside to round the back and looking north, and the owner was very sweet and attentive going out of her way to help our comfort and bring some extra pillows as we struggle to sleep with only one so that was very kind and it was very windy, it was very snowy around but the roads were manageable with 4x4 and lovely views around, good shower good firm beds, nice bedding, great mini fridge and freezer option good oven/ hob, kitchen was good with lots of utensils to use, very warm and cosy and peaceful and private, we liked having a tv, it has smart access too, WiFi was great, the supermarket closes at 7pm bear this in mind as we didn’t 😅
