Piece Hostel Sanjo offers private and dormitory rooms in the heart of Kyoto. Featuring a lounge and terrace of modern design, the property is located within walking distance from Sanjo Station on the Keihan Line, Karasuma Station on the Hankyu Kyoto Line and Kyoto Shiyakusyomae Station on the Tozai Line. Free WiFi is available throughout the property, while pocket WiFi can be rented at the front desk. The family room we had was great. The set up of the beds was perfect. The beds were large and comfortable. The common areas were spacious and welcoming. We were so impressed by the Piece Hostel Sanjo. We didn’t know what to expect given it’s a hostel. But our expectations were blown away. It’s a very modern, clean and cool place.

Opening in March 2014, Mitsui Garden Hotel Kyoto Shinmachi Bettei offers accommodations with a modern yet traditional décor. Free Wi-Fi is available at the entire property and guests can refresh in the public bath. Shijo and Karasuma Station are both within a 10-minute walk away. The room was the best that I stayed in in Japan. The room was well sized, aesthetically pleasing with a Japanese feel, and the bed was incredibly comfortable. The room was also set with drip coffee and a selection of teas. The Onsen, only for hotel guests, was also free and available anytime between 3pm and 9am. This was arguably the best part of my stay! The Onsen was always empty when I went (around 9pm) and I could sit and relax in the lounge area after my bath, which was wonderful! The hotel is also very central and surrounded by incredible restaurants.

Facing the central shopping street of the Kinosaki Onsen hot spring area, Morizuya offers authentic Japanese-style accommodation, hot spring baths and Japanese dining. Guests can wear colourful yukata robes at the property. Free Wi-Fi is available throughout. Everything was excellent. The ryokan is well located very close to the public baths and has itself 2 private baths that you can use in private the afternoons. The personal went above and beyond to make our stay better, even with the language differences. They let us store our luggage before the check in time and took it to the train station the day of check out. They lent us some yukatas to stroll in the town and the owner proposed to take some pictures of us outside the ryokan which was a nice detail. The room we stayed, was a typical ryokan room with futon and everything, which complements the charm of the stay. The food was delicious and they even explained us how the items in the dinner were supposed to be enjoyed. Super authentic experience and totally recommended.
