The beds were large and comfortable. The common areas were spacious and welcoming. We were so impressed by the Piece Hostel Sanjo. We didn’t know what to expect given it’s a hostel. But our expectations were blown away. It’s a very modern, clean and cool place.

Both Kiyomizu Gojo and Shichijo stations for the Keihan Main Line are situated within a 10-minute walk. Free WiFi is available throughout the property. Wonderful staff and facilities.

Opening in March 2014, Mitsui Garden Hotel Kyoto Shinmachi Bettei offers accommodations with a modern yet traditional décor. Free Wi-Fi is available at the entire property and guests can refresh in the public bath. Shijo and Karasuma Station are both within a 10-minute walk away. The room was the best that I stayed in in Japan. The room was well sized, aesthetically pleasing with a Japanese feel, and the bed was incredibly comfortable. The room was also set with drip coffee and a selection of teas. The Onsen, only for hotel guests, was also free and available anytime between 3pm and 9am. This was arguably the best part of my stay! The Onsen was always empty when I went (around 9pm) and I could sit and relax in the lounge area after my bath, which was wonderful! The hotel is also very central and surrounded by incredible restaurants.

It is within a 10-minute walk from Shijo, Karasuma and Kawaramachi subway stations. Free Wi-Fi is provided at the public area. We stayed 3 nights here and it was a great experience. Service was great, dinner incredible, room is also comfortable and clean. One impressive part is the little gift e.g. Japanese style bags shared during the stay- very unique during my entire trip in Japan.

Ryokan Kyoraku is centrally located just a 7-minute walk from JR Kyoto Station's north exit. It's a 3-minute walk from Higashi Hongan-ji temple. Free Wi-Fi is available in all rooms.

All rooms have air conditioning and an LCD TV, while some are fitted with an attached bathroom. Perfect to stay. Staff is so kind and provide us useful information. Also, room was very clean. We will choose this ryokan again for sure for our next visit.

Towa Ryokan is a ryokan located just a 10-minute walk from JR Kyoto Station.

A welcome drink of green tea will be prepared upon arrival.

It also offers a spacious basement bath for guests to refresh and free Wi-Fi throughout the property. This was our favorite ryokan. The staff was wonderfully friendly, the room clean, the onzen lovely. One thing that really stood out was the breakfast. The food was fresh and clearly hand-made on the spot. We got to enjoy it for two times and were delighted to see that each day there were slight differences such as soft-boiled egg vs. omelet, salmon vs. mackerel, silken tofu vs. firm. This was by far and away the best breakfast we had on our trip and superior to some more expensive places. We would go back for sure and can highly recommend this lovely inn.
