Everything was top: friendly staff (the family room we initially booked was too hot without air conditioning so we got 2 double rooms with airco for the same price without even asking), very comfortable rooms, stylish design, perfect breakfast, romantic and very refined dinner outside under the trees, walking distance from the amazing Beyeler foundation.

If I only had one word to describe Chez Jean and Daisy, it would be: Magical. This bed and breakfast in a sleepy hamlet outside of Basel near the German border is nothing short of a treasure. Everything in the house is steeped in history, charm, and beauty. Immediately upon walking in the gate to the property, you are greeted with an elegant garden. At the door, the wise and wonderful Jean embraces you with a larger-than-life personality. Daisy, with her warmth and loveliness, becomes no stranger too. The breakfast is served downstairs in the shadow of a ticking clock that has more character than a Victor Hugo novel. The bread is homemade and deliciously unique.

I really liked it, I was amazed and fascinated. When I told Hilde, the receptionist and restaurant host, that I was very impressed, she gave me detailed information about the history of this building and showed me photos. There was also a book in the living room, Hilde showed me the part about Silo Hostel, in the book. By the way, Hilde is an extremely kind, smiling and helpful hotel employee. She asked me in the morning if I was comfortable during the night. I said the goose feather pillow was too thin for my neck so she gave me a second pillow so I was extremely comfortable for the next 2 nights. I am a 59-year-old solo traveler, so my biggest concern was finding the transportation vehicle and the location of the hostel after getting off at the airport. I was also worried about whether I would be able to do the self-check-in. Everything was very easy. I took the number 50 bus from the airport. The hotel prepares your daily transportation card in advance anyway. In this case, you get on the bus without paying a fee. When you arrive at the hotel, it is also very easy to check in via Hostel's tablet. In conclusion, everything was perfect. Silo Design & Boutique Hostel Basel was the only hotel I was sad to leave. I loved it very much 🩷

One of the best hotels I have ever stayed at. They even gave us bowels, blankets and snacks for our dogs. The staff were so kind, the breakfast was amazing and the hotel was so beautiful. I would love to come back someday. Thank you for an amazing stay!

I loved that I received an email from the property with one day before arrival with everything I need to know to get at the hotel. The hotel staff was very professional, the breakfast was healthy and tasty, the room was very comfy. The hotel has a very good location near to the centre. The bus station to the train station is in front of the building. Overall, it was an amazing experience! For sure, next time I’ll pick the same accommodation!
