Broadlands is an institution. It has been around for decades, and is still going strong. I have stayed here twice before some 25 and 30 years ago. Back in the days we heard about this place as soon as we arrived in India and met other travellers who had been there. I have NO IDEA how it could possibly 'fall' out of the latest edition of Lonely Planet. It is a backpacker and seasoned budget travellers place though and far from luxury, but it's friendly and welcoming. Modern day hostels can wait until another city. The exterior is showing its age, but hay, 2 years with covid hasn't done anybody a favour! Travellers have started trickling in, and hopefully it will be funds to freshen up the iconic baby blue and white paint soon. Rooms are kept fine though, and have good led lights. And the WiFi is SUPERB. Best WiFi I have had during my 6 months in India. Finally I could book flight tickets and catch up online. ...and yes, they still have the chai boys that bring you tea or coffee in flasks and breakfast in the morning.

It was neat and clean, no problem with sheets, bed, washrooms, internet. It has all basic amenities, if you are coming for work and want to stay for 2 nights it is good and value for money to stay well connected. Near the beach, Egmore railway station, MAS railway station, anna square.

We had a room on the 3rd floor. The A/C was great, you get the remote to control it yourself and was available the entire day. Bed was comfortable and bathroom was alright. Very good value for money.

The photos included in the offer are authentic. The hotel is very clean and well kept. The room is small but sufficient. Very comfortable beds, efficient and quiet air conditioning. Water, coffee and tea replenished daily. The staff is very kind and helpful 10 minutes walk to the beach, train station and metro to the airport. I will definitely come back here next time I visit Cennaj.
