Lovely spacious rooms, helpful kind staff, Meals were well prepared and the afternoon tea on check in was a lovely touch. View from room and outdoor bath was stunning, so special. Staff very helpful when we needed extra help to contact local onsen, they were so kind and called ahead for us so we could keep our booking on very short notice.

Everything is top notch, room is spacious and clean with daily room service, staff is extremely friendly, warm and hospitable. I would like to express my great gratitude to Iwasaki (岩崎） at dining and Yamada (山田泰子） at reception, they are doing their best to make customers happy with great smile 😃 Not forgetting to mention the meals which is very delicious, ingredients are fresh and with great variety. Oh dear I starts to missed the place so much 😄

I was immediately captivated by the overall environment, and the impeccable cleanliness left a lasting impression. The quality of the hot springs greatly enhanced this trip, making it even more enjoyable. From dinner to lunch, every detail was filled with delightful surprises. I especially loved the evening happy hour in the hallway. The only small wish I had was for an alternative selection of red wine. This is truly an unforgettable hotel.

We would highly recommend Nakaya Ryokan to anyone else we know travelling. We thought the hospitality was exceptional and we are very grateful for the experience we had. They helped us manage our luggage via storage. They were always so helpful and kind. They offer private onsens which were outstanding. The host was very friendly and welcoming. He was respectful and gave us space but had lots of very good suggestions which we enjoyed. He even helped us to set up the bbq pit and get it going so we could bbq, and there were lots of groceries and things that were provided. The facilities are generous: can take 12 guests comfortably with two shower rooms and 4 WCs The place is quiet with easy parking and within short drive (less than 30 minutes) of major outdoor adventure locations. Its a great base camp for outdoor activities. I would love to come again in a different season and see all that minakami has to offer!

I loved the homely atmosphere of the lodge, the warmth, the incredible views, the magical snowfall everyday. The common area had everything we needed including extra blankets, books, games, a keyboard…and we had access to water, tea and coffee. The communal fridge made it easy to store snacks, and there is a microwave which was incredibly helpful for me as I chose to eat dinner at the lodge. The convenience store down the road has a variety of food and snacks, and plenty of vegan options! The breakfast was amazing each day. Tim was able to make me vegan waffles and muffins everyday morning which was amazing as Tokyo was challenging to find good vegan food. The coffee was barista brewed, and it was second to none. I was so impressed, I had to have two coffees every morning. Craig (owner) was the main superstar this whole trip. He went above and beyond to answer all my questions, provide advice on what to do where to go, and did all the station pickups and drop offs anytime I needed to go out for the day. As it was a spontaneous trip I didn’t have appropriate footwear or extra jackets and gloves. However the lodge was able to provide all these for me to have a comfortable stay. I even built a snowman ⛄️ I will definitely be coming back sooner rather than later! Thank you Craig, and team!
