Many things. Design is great! We booked because of the hotel design. Facilities also great. Free flow drink for evening until 11pm - beer, sake, juice, ice-cream etc. staffs are great, able to speak English very well. The location also great, able to walk to the whole Takayama city centre.

Everything! The owners are so sweet! They gave us matcha tea when we arrived! The ryokan is stunning! Amazing decoration in every single place! We love the onsen! Everything Is extra clean and tidy! I told one of the owner (lady) it was really cold outside and when we get back to the room was blankets and the kettle ready to drink our tea! (In the room was before ready tea pot and cups). I forgot my necklace in the room and the owners send me a messenge but I was already in Tokyo for the next day take flight to get back home. They were amazing and send to me the necklace to Australia !

Perfect location！only 100m to ancient street. Big room, high-level service. Accomodate there, you could not only enjoy the hotspring in this hotel, but also other two in sister hotel (can birdview the town) and sister SPA (traditional Japanese-Style). Hotel restaurant is Michelin-recomended, as a foodie, I even think its Kaiseki quality is higher than some 1-star restaurant. Really appreicate my service staff Taki, a lovely girl, gentle and careful, hard learning Chinese:)

I highly recommend Tabino Shiori when you are visiting Takayama. We stayed here during the autumn festival in Takayama. The location is fantastic, super close to the shrine and all the festival events and markets. It is in the middle of all the traditional houses and streets and the house itself is super beautiful as well. The hosts are truly amazing people. They are so friendly and welcoming. We felt right at home. They also provided the option to have a traditional diner upon arrival the first day. We did this and have no regrets. It was delicious and a fun experience. The house was also very clean, there was a small kitchen and a very nice modern bathroom. I will definitely stay here again!
