We were thrilled to help with grape picking in the morning, receiving a basket of grapes to enjoy munching on. Each family member is friendly, kind and passionate about their business, also helping with the cheese factory location nearby.

Ana's greeting and tips were special, and it made our stay memorable. We were given an amazingly prepared breakfast with eggs from their own chickens (whom we were introduced to) fresh apples , and juice from their own garden also fresh local produce and some tasty cheeses! We wanted to use the sauna super late in the evening and Ana was very accomodating to our request, also the sauna worked very well. If you're close to Covilha, you can't miss this unforgettable experience from start to finish. We will definitely return!

After driving from Madrid and arriving around 3:30 we didn’t want the hassle of driving into town for dinner (town is typical rural Portugal) but every restaurant in the area delivers so we sat by the pool, had a beer or wine, jumped into the jacuzzi and waited for food. Bed very comfortable, shower great and lots of stars at night. There are not many rooms so we had the whole grounds to ourselves 😀 Plus the national park is in the vicinity for hiking the next day.

Continental breakfast is perfect and very fresh. The Serra da Estrella natural park provides lots of trekking paths. In the Vila apartment you can enjoy a beautiful view while drinking wine in a jacuzzi :D The trekking during July might be hard due to high temperatures and due to high grass bushes on the path.

This hotel is run by a lovely couple that are very hands on to your needs, very friendly and helpful to give you recommendations on restaurants, hikes and things to see in the area. They also make an amazing breakfast each morning and will make an amazing gourmet dinner upon request. The rooms are decorated with such personal touches and the views and tranquility of grapes, mountains and river views, you could sit and relax on a swing or lounge chair outside the room for hours. Sunsets with a glass of wine are amazing there also. I would highly recommend this!!

Solar De Alarcao, a property with a garden, is located in Guarda, 100 metres from Guarda Cathedral, 10 km from Guarda Train Station, as well as 30 km from Belmonte Calvário Chapel. It is situated 400 metres from Guarda Castle and provides a housekeeping service. The farm stay features garden views, a sun terrace, a 24-hour front desk, and free WiFi is available. Braekfast was incredible and our room made us feel like royalty. The hostess is adorable.

The home is beautiful, and very well thought out. The bed was the most comfortable we slept in in Portugal. The views of the orchards and Serra de Estrella mountains in the distance were gorgeous. We loved wandering around the property and meeting the cats, dog, chickens (farm fresh eggs in the morning), goats and donkeys. There is also a pool with a great view, that we didn't use because of the cold weather. The breakfast was amazing, eggs, bread, homemade preserves, cold cuts, cheese, fruit and a most wonderful yogurt with cherries grown in their own orchard. But perhaps the best part was the hosts kindness and generosity. We felt most welcomed. When we got in late and didn't feel like driving back to a restaurant, she brought out some olives, cheese, fruit, bread and wine, and charged very little. It was perfect! We recommend staying enough days that you can really settle in and enjoy the place and explore the towns, valleys and mountains nearby.

I was traveling with my two kids and we were alone on the quinta. It was like we were staying in the castle. Clean swimming pool, air condition in each bedroom, beautiful territory.
