Beautiful historic suite in a beautiful historic location, but with great modern amenities, and helpful attentive staff. We went there for our anniversary, and loved it, and would recommend it to anyone. We stayed in the Armory suite, and we loved the busts of the alchemists, the pictures of the kings of Scotland, and the steel plate armour helmets you can pick up. Not sure they are really historic though :) The restaurant is great too if you can get a reservation, but be sure to reserve early or you will miss out...

Their warmth and kindness made the checkin process so seamless and every time I saw them I wanted to say hi to them! They made for such a lovely stay. The bar staff in the W Lounge whose names I don't remember (he was from Brazil and she had a lovely show style hair cut) make my time in the lounge especially great as well. Overall the warmth of the staff is unmatched in all my European hotel experiences!
