We spent three nights at Pepper Trail and haven't stopped recommending it to family and friends! The setting is stunning - green and lush vegetation on a coffee (and tea) estate that seems to go a long way. Food was excellent - we had dinner there every night and the vegetarian fixed menu was tasty, varied and beautifully presented. The jeep ride through the estate was informative and great fun, as was the bird walk with Gayathri. All the staff were helpful and friendly. A peaceful and relaxing stay in a remarkably beautiful setting - what more could you ask for?

Located just 1.5 km from the Chellanam Fishing Harbour, Kondai Lip Backwater Heritage resort is located in Alleppey. It features a massage parlour and offers free WiFi access is available in the public areas of this resort. A slice of luxury for a fraction of the price. The serenity and peace of this place was wonderful with views of the lake and the trees. We had a great massage here as well and the food was exceptional. Perfect service, beautiful surroundings and a special end to our trip.

Located barely 200 metres away from Chinese Fishing nets and Fort Cochin Bus Station, Eight Bastion features a seasonal outdoor pool, garden and a business centre. Free Wi-Fi is available in hotel rooms. We stayed at Eighth Bastion in Fort Kochi, and it was an absolutely fantastic experience. The staff and the hotel’s theme were exceptional – they were always there with a smile, ready to help or answer any questions. An extra bonus was the excellent espresso available in the room, along with a variety of loose-leaf teas. In the afternoons, snacks were offered, and included in our stay was a two-hour tuk-tuk sightseeing tour as well as a heritage morning walk. I have rarely stayed at a hotel that consistently goes the extra mile to create a memorable experience for its guests. The location is also excellent, right behind the Dutch Cemetery and Sandy Beach, where you can enjoy the sunset within minutes. From there, it’s a pleasant walk along the water to the busier parts of town. Breakfast here was probably the best we’ve had in India, with plenty of healthy and nutritious options. The restaurant also served very tasty and reasonably priced meals, and any special requests were always happily accommodated. Eighth Bastion Fort Kochi is our obvious choice whenever we return – and we definitely will!
