The hotel seems a bit dated, but it more than makes up with old school charm. A lot of effort was put into creating an exquisite experience showcasing Japanese food and culture. The special care put into preparing the rooms, onsen and even the manicured gardens will draw you to stay longer at such a welcoming hotel.it is no wonder the current Emperor and Empress of Japan have stayed there a few times!
A bonus that the hotel is located about a 5min walk to the start of the snow monkey park!
Thank you for your kind hospitality. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves, and had fun wearing the specially prepared yutakas to walk around the hotel.

the exceptional staff and the Onsen was amazing. I definitely recommend going to the older, more traditional bath. The snow monkey park was easy to reach. Overall we had a very relaxing experience.

The staff was very helpful and polite. The room was large with western beds, with the option of futons. The tea in the room was great. The view was fantastic. The private onsen was great, clean, relaxing, and with an amazing view of the mountains. The breakfast was good, and there was a lot of it.
The place is in a great spot, just a few minutes walk from Yudanaka Station.

Everything!! The room was stunning with its private onsen where we could customize the water temperature while enjoying breathtaking panoramic views.
The staff went above and beyond with their exceptional kindness and attentiveness. A special mention goes to the onsen lady! It was a pleasure communicating with her despite language barriers.
Both dinner and breakfast were delicious and generously portioned.
This experience truly represents everything we love most about Japan. A perfect stay!

Modern kaiseki dinner and generous breakfast. I was impressed by the staff's attention to detail! In a ryokan, you have to take off your shoes at the entrance, and staff always knew right away when we came to the lobby which shoes were ours. We were three people of different nationalities. The head waiter in the dining room knew basic phrases in all of our native languages and served us in these languages as best as he could, very charming. The room was beautiful with a wonderful view of the autumn foliage right in front of the hotel. We had a perfect girls' vacation and couldn't have been happier!

The rooms were beautiful. The staff incredibly attentive. And the private meals were amazing. Having our own Onsen in our room was a wonderful luxury. Though not extremely close to Nagano (an hour by train), the location is close to the train station to Nagano (a 10 minute walk) and very close to the Snow Monkey Park (a 15 minute ride) and mountain towns like Shibu. A lovely time - well worth the splurge.

Great hotel with perfect balance between traditional and modern. The staff and service were out of this world amazing and so were the meals (breakfast and dinner) which were both included. We enjoyed every minute of our stay. Great location, very close to station and bus stop to the snow monkeys. The arrival drink and the complementary Sake bar at night made it even more special. Thanks so much to the team at Hotel Tsubakino for the amazing stay!

Excellent ryokan with large rooms and service. Helpful staff, wonderful traditional breakfast and dinner. The ryokan has two onsens in different styles (modern and old) with indoors and outdoors springs. Traditional clothes are provided. Located relatively close to the Wild snow monkey park.
This was our third visit to this property.
Fantastic ski in ski out location.
Staff very helpful, and more and more speak English.
High standard of room amenities available to select in the foyer - body lotion, face masks etc.
First time staying on a lower floor not in “comfort room 5F” and it was totally fine.
Great views from the picture window out over the snow.
Excellent to be able to do some laundry - washers free, driers very reasonably priced. BYO detergent.

The staff is so helpful and wonderful. The check in procedure was very nice and homey. The facilities are very good as well, especially the outdoor onsen that you can book for a private slot. The room was very spacious. The kaiseki dinner was also amazing! All in all, a very nice ryokan in a good location for seeing the snow monkeys.
