The location was great and handy for cafes, restaurants and pubs. The room had a fridge which I appreciated and a great selection of teas and ground coffee along with biscuits and crisps. Nicola, the host, was friendly and helpful.

I absolutely enjoyed my stay at the castle gate. The owner is super friendly and helpful. The rooms are clean and cozy. Beds are very comfortable - I slept really well. The location couldn’t be better either. 3mins walk to Barter‘s Books and 5mins walk to the castle. 10/10 recommendation! :)

What an amazing place! Loved the unique decor of the bedroom and bathroom and the house was beautiful. Host was lovely and helpful and interesting to talk to.

Wonderfully cozy room was welcome during our cold windy travels. Loved sitting and enjoying tea in the comfy chairs by the big window. Staff were very kind. Meals were fantastic. Location for walking to the castle was just right.

From the moment you drove into the driveway the anticipation of a wonderful luxury stay truly began to be fulfilled. Welcomed by our friendly, helpful hosts, afternoon tea was made and enjoyed in the summer room which looked over the beautiful garden estate of this charming stone Edwardian guest house. This is the best guest house, B & B ever! Absolute luxury at this best. It was the most magnificent stay with wonderful breakfasts, great conversations, helpful information, we felt special. This is an award winning venue that gives a master class in luxury hospitality and giving a score of 10 is certainly not enough.
