Super friendly staff, they were good at trying to communicate with those who couldn't speak Japanese, loads of English written explanations if you need them. Warm and comfy rooms. Slightly set back from the most touristy part of the town which I liked. It's all so close anyway that it really isn't a bother.

All I have been many times in koyasan and for sure i love this place for the cemetery, temples and incredible, powerfull atmosphere of koyasan but for kokuu guest-house too. Tourists beware: this is not an hotel. This is a temple, and as a temple it must be respected in all its aspects. The structure is not “rich” but is comfortable and in a very beautiful setting. The garden is pure magic and the monks are friendly and willing to share their knowledge. The position is perfect for visiting Koyasan and its treasures. Please, respect this place.

We loved the attention to detail, especially the vintage record player with Japanese vinyls and how well stocked the kitchen was (oil, spices, rice, coffee etc. - the best we had in Japan!). Staff was very accommodating. Very spacious, perfect for our group. We had to change the group size due to a mistake of our own and it was very easy to resolve, thank you for that. We had a great time!

This was one of the best accommodations I have stayed during my extensive travelling through Japan. I have nothing but words of best recommendations. The location is great, very close to the main Garan complex and Kongobuji temple. It is a place where I would love to stay again. The rooms and bathrooms vere very clean and in top shape. It gave the impression of luxury eventhough the main feeling about the hotel is more homey and cozy. It's run by a lovely young couple and our host could speak exceptional English! He gave us many useful tips about the town and pilgrimage trails. He also helped us with luggages and order of taxi and train shedule. He was always very polite and helpful with anything we needed. The place has wonderful view from window and rooms are very tastefuly decorated in traditional japanese style. If you are looking for peaceful housing to stay and enjoy Japan, this is your place.

The host is a really friendly and nice guy! He set up a nice and new space close to Koyasan. The kitchen area is the highlight with old gaming consoles, an old tv and an arcade gaming machine. Loved it!
