Incredibly clean and well organized, the family who own and operate this lovely guest house ensure everything guests may need to make their stay more enjoyable, is available, and that guests comfort is a priority. The owner was especially helpful guiding and assisting us with shipping of baggage back to Narita airport, and dropping us to the departing bus station for onward transport. The location is at the top end of town. A good energetic 8 min walk down to the charming village, and very close to Nozawaonsen Distillery, great local restaurants and shops, then onsen bathhouse, and short walk up to the gondola station, so ideal base for skiing. Traditional Japanese rooms and bedding were comfortable and warm in winter.

The hostess was absolutely delightful, I really enjoyed chatting with her when I arrived. She brought me some delicious watermelon from the garden and a much needed coffee and gave me lots of great recommendations for what to do around Nozawaonsen. I was only staying for a night, but I couldn't have asked for a better host. She reminded me of my own grandmother! The room was very comfortable and clean, with lots of traditional charm, and the location was brilliant, very near many of the best onsen. I loved staying here!

Everything! It was exactly what we needed after a day's hike. We arrived at 5pm super hungry and they were flexible to get us dinner. The room were cosy authentic and comfortable, simple. The onsen was peaceful. The food was AMAZING, we had fish, sushi , hotpot , steak and the sobu noodles for just 20ish euros per person. We slept super good and when we had to leave the next morning they got us a taxi.

Extremely close to the slopes and bus across to Nozawa. Miki, the host, is exceptionally lovely and helped us with all of our needs. The rooms are clean, with comfortable Japanese futons to sleep on. The heaters worked so well I had to turn them off after an hour or so. Wifi is fast and works well. I highly recommend breakfast and dinner!

A home from home with beautiful Japanese style bedrooms. it was our first time sleeping in a futon style bed, I was cynical about how comfortable it would be but it really was the best nights sleep! the kitchen is very well equipped and the hosts are so lovely ! They are happy to run you to and from the station in their car which is about a 30 minute walk from the accommodation .

Situated 25 km from Ryuoo Ski Park, Guest house Maroudo offers 2-star accommodation in Iiyama and has a bar.

Well located guest house in Madarao. Staff were excellent and very hospitable. Lift to/from the main ski area each day as required but we often walked as it was so close and easy. We were picked up from and dropped off at local train stations (Myokokogen and Iiyama respectively) by a staff member. Food was good particularly the one dinner we had at Maroudo. Onsen was a good temperature. Highly recommend.

We had a wonderful stay at this charming pension, run by an incredibly kind and hardworking couple. Despite the heavy snowstorm disrupting transportation, they went above and beyond to assist us, ensuring we reached our destination smoothly. Their generosity didn’t stop there—they even brought our skis to the bus station, making our departure hassle-free. The warmth and hospitality we experienced made our trip even more special. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a welcoming and caring place to stay! Also the in-house breakfast and dinner was amazing.
