Overlooking Whitby Bay, The Wheeldale Guest House is just steps from the sandy beach. Historical Whitby Abbey can be reached in 20 minutes’ walk and the popular Captain Cook Museum is just over a mile away. The town centre is a 10-minute walk away. The host is exceptionally friendly, we had a warm welcome and felt like home away from home.

At the guest house, every unit is equipped with a wardrobe, a flat-screen TV, a private bathroom, bed linen and towels. Each unit is fitted with a kettle, while certain rooms come with a terrace and others also boast sea views. The units are equipped with heating facilities. You won't find a better hotel at this price point. The area is lovely and the view from the terrace is the best in town. The owner is absolutely determined to make this work and puts in a huge effort. My daughter left her toy here and he posted it back to us, which was extremely kind. In future, I would go for one of the king rooms as the double rooms are standard doubles.

We had a very good experience, especially because of the hosts: very warm, welcoming and helpful people that made us feel at 'home away from home'. the house is beautifully decorated, sparkling clean (honestly, we haven't seen one speck of dust in 3 days we've been there). The location is superb, close to many attractions but tucked away from noise and crowds, the breakfast was delicious and the bed was super comfortable. They have beautiful outdoors sitting are where we had one meal and loved it too. Our room had a shower and toilet outside, which wasn't what we expected, but it stoped being a bother after a short while. Overall a great place to stay and we will definitely be back if in the area.

Our hosts were very friendly and took care to ensure we were comfortable and had evrything we needed. The breakfasts were excellent and very generous.

I have stayed here before and it is absolutely spotlessly clean, the bathroom is very modern and the bed is really comfortable and it's handy for all the shops and bars but still slightly away from all the hustle and bustle.

It is located 27 km from Redcar Racecourse and provides bicycle parking. Whitby Abbey is 27 km from the guest house and Middlesbrough Cathedral is 30 km away. We stayed at Floyter House for 2 nights in late April to attend a wedding at Danby Castle. We booked the master suite on the top floor of the house. We thought that this was excellent value considering it was like a mini Airbnb with a separate bedroom, bathroom and TV room. The tea and coffee facilities were really good. Charlotte was very accommodating and friendly, she even very kindly dropped us off at the wedding venue on the morning of the big day, which saved us driving and leaving the car overnight. We would definitely stay again if we were in the area.
