Amazing food and with a tuk tuk on site it was so convenient to get a ride to the bus and our own tour!

The caretaker was very polite and cooked is incredible dinner. If you want to do the Safari, this place is perfect. We booked a Safari with getyourguide but you can also book directly with them.

Great location. Nicely tucked away from the road amongst the forest. Lots of birds including jungle fowl to watch from the patio. Walk in from the road via a pathway. They met us to help carry our bags. Dinner was traditional Sri Lankan curry - vegetarian or chicken. Followed by yoghurt and fruit for dessert. Plenty of food, not spicy and was yummy. Other options for dinner were fried rice or vegetable noodles. Breakfast was packed for us for the following day safari. 2 egg sandwiches, a banana, yoghurt and water. Sufficient for the half day. The best part is the very close lake and dirt road. We went for a walk with binoculars and saw deer, langurs, crocodile, hornbills and lots of other birds and lizards too. A much better, slower paced experience and one not to miss. We booked a half day tour with the host. In hindsight we would have booked a different tour. Pillows weren't overly comfortable but was OK for 1 night.

Der Host Kalhara war äusserst nett und zuvorkommend. Er hat uns bei der Reiseplanung mit super tipps geholfen und war immer hilfsbereit, aufmerksam und perfekt erreichbar. Das (nacht)essen welches wir hatten war sehr lecker und das frühstück ebenfalls top. Wir können diese unterkunft nur weiterempfehlen und fanden das preis-leistungs verhältnis extrem gut. Am beiindruckendsten war, dass er jederzeit erreichbar war und bei allem was wir angefragt haben innert kürzester zeit was organisisert hat.

It’s very rustic and simple. AC is very functional. There were a few hiccups, but the outstanding staff addressed everything immediately. Everything I tried on the menu was delicious. There isn’t a lot to do in Habarana, but it’s a great location to stay if you want to visit the cave temple, Sigiriya, Miniriya and Polonnaruwa. The first three are less than 30 mins away. Polonnaruwa was a fast hour.

We had a wonderful stay at Sweet Home Tourist Rest, Cooking Classes & Tours. The comfort level was top-notch — everything was clean, spacious, and thoughtfully arranged. We were pleasantly surprised to find that our room came with its own living room, making it feel like a full apartment rather than just a guest room. For a very reasonable price, we had a completely private space to ourselves, which we really appreciated. The location is also ideal — the area is peaceful and quiet, perfect for relaxing after a day of exploring. A special thanks to Nilukshan, who organized some truly extraordinary tours for us, including the Wilpattu safari, and visits to Anuradhapura and Mihintale. Each one was memorable and perfectly arranged, giving us deep insights into the history and beauty of the region. We also took part in a cooking class conducted by Malsha, which was another highlight of our stay. The class was hands-on, fun, and absolutely delicious — we learned a lot and enjoyed every moment. Highly recommend this place to anyone visiting the area — it’s more than just accommodation, it’s an experience!

Everything, you reach the place and you know immediately that you will have a great time and you will chill. Hosts are amazing, helpful they guy took me to sigiriya with his tuk tuk for a very cheap price. They will help you with everything since they speak very good English and they are amazing people. The room was huge woth 3 beds, super clean, smells unbelievable and it has sockets plugs, hot water and a table to put your luggage so you don't habe to bend. AC is provided. Bathroom was also big and clean. I loved the outside area with all these wood chairs tables and sofas. The breakfast was very good and a big portion. I wish I could have stayed longer since it's a place you can relax and enjoy. Habarana is so authentic and not touristic, nice people, friendly and affordable place to stay and I definitely suggest spending a few days here.
