Be aware there is no hot water, but as we learned, this is fairly common in Sri Lanka. It’s on the main road, so there is some traffic noise, but it didn’t bother us. Dinner is also available with notice to the family.

At the guest house, the units are fitted with bed linen and towels. Staff are super nice. They waited for us until midnight for check-in and prepared a take-away breakfast for our morning safari. Room is clean.

The guest house features family rooms. The family was very friendly. The welcome juice was delicious! The room was clean. The bed was comfortable with a good mosquito net. The location was super calm and you can enjoy the sunset over the rice fields. It was very easy to arrange the half day safari with the hosts.

Additional in-room amenities include wine or champagne, fruits and chocolates or cookies. I had a wonderful stay with Riswan and his family. They truly care about offering the best possible experience to their guests and sharing the beauty of their region. They even managed to organize a last-minute safari for me at a very reasonable price, especially considering how well the day went (great driver, breakfast + lunch included) – $50 for a half day, $95 for a full day. As for the wildlife, I was lucky not only in the park but also around the village where the guesthouse is located. It’s not uncommon to see one or even several elephants passing by – though of course, that’s up to Mother Nature! Overall, a fantastic experience. A big thank you to Riswan and his brother for their kindness and for taking the time to help me plan my route. Good to know: there’s a local bus that runs from the village to Puttalam for 150 LKR, 1h, starting around 7 AM, with connections to many other destinations from there.

The hotel arranged us a tour and we had an unforgettable experience with the safari driver. We saw all the animals in the Wilpattu Safari. Leopards, Elephants, Bears etc. The driver has a great experience about the jungle and the roads. We went 3 kinds of safari in Sri Lanka and this was the best. I think this is the best place to go on a wilpattu safari tour. Very good & appreciate it!!
