Lovely place ran by a very nice family and their team in a peaceful little village not far from Bukit lewang. They arranged my jungle Trek as soon as I arrived which was perfect. Waking up to rice fields and mountain views, what more could you wish for?

Came to jhony’s for two days trekking tour through the jungle and was an incredible experience, from the start seeing orangutans and many monkeys around , the five start hotel in the jungle for the first night was special and the next day rafting to coming back to our a accomodation in Bukit lawang was the perfect close . Everything was wonderful. The location overlooking the river from your balcony is amazing. The room is basic but for the prize it is fantastic value. Apart from the fantastic view you get a super comfy bed, a big mosqito net (without holes :-), a bathroom and toilet (cold water), a fan and WIFI in the room - which I was not expecting. But above all Alex and his family are exellent hosts and you feel very velcome. Alex arranged transport for me to and from Bukit Lawang. I would really recommend this transport (shared tourist taxi) and of course the main thing: Alex arranged a two day trek for me. It vas amazing with lots of wild life including orangutans.

What a pleasure it was to stay at Cheeky Monkeys! Everyone here was so friendly and so kind, and with its lovely setting overlooking the river, you’re really in a world apart. I only did the 3-hour jungle trek, but saw the orangutans and Thomas leaf monkeys. My guide, Bambang, was not only a wealth of knowledge, he patiently told me where to place each foot while winding up and down and through jungle roots, vines, and muddy patches. Such a nice man! The transfers from Medan and back to the airport were flawless and the drivers excellent. As for the accommodations at Cheeky, descriptions here are accurate. Food was good, the impromptu guitar after dinner was fun, and the WiFi connection in my room was much better than I expected. I wouldn’t hesitate to come back in the future.

I stayed for 3 weeks at Batu Kapal and would recommend to others that they not just stay for a day before and/or after a jungle trek but enjoy this peaceful and beautiful location for multiple days. The primates (several monkey species and orangutans), butterflies, lizards and birds around the property provide frequent interest. When their isn't great wildlife in your view, the beautiful scenery will make you happy to be there.

Lovely spacious rooms with gorgeous balcony and view. Rooms were very clean with flushing toilets! Easy walk into town where there’s lots of restaurants and a supermarket. The owner and staff were lovely, friendly and very helpful. We felt very safe and welcome here. They cooked us lovely banana pancakes for breakfast and a lovely lunch.

I liked the staff kindness and their willingness to help. Also, the trekking guide was exceptional: respectuous to nature and people and very knowledgeable. All rooms have a great view on the river with a green jungle wall behind. The area is quiet and surrounded by nature and other small guesthouses. The room was perfectly clean and spacious.

Me and my friend stayed here just one night but wish we could have stayed longer! Before this we stayed a couple nights in the centre of the village Bukit Lawang which is nice but can get quite loud with construction and people. We highly recommend this place if you want a more private and calm place to stay but still near the village centre. The room is new, very comfortable and fully equipped. The view of the rice field is absolutely gorgeous. There is also free wifi and data connection. Convenience stores and local street food warungs are just a 10min walk away from the hut, or you can also pay for a motorbike if you don’t feel like walking. You can also walk to the centre of Bukit Lawang (around 30min) or take motorbike (10min). The staff here is so kind and accommodating. They make amazing breakfast (we loved the banana pancakes) and tend to all other possible needs. The owner really did his all to make our stay comfortable. He always wanted to make sure that we were ok and that we had everything we needed. Thank you so much Bayu and all of the staff!
