The staff is truly exceptional. Ga-chen and her boss are amazing people, they went above and beyond what is expected of hostel staff to help us. I had accidentally booked to beds in the female dorm for my brother and I (i’m female), and since the mixed dorm at tabi-shiro was fully booked like all other affordable accommodation on booking.com, they helped us find a room somewhere else, navigating japanese websites and local knowledge. We are very grateful for the hospitality and kindness of Ga-chen and her boss. Apart from the amazing staff, tabi-shiro is a very hip and cozy hostel with all the amenities you need, and more! (There were even sanitary products and face moisturisers in the women’s bathroom). You can also rent bikes for very fair price, which is a great way to travel Matsumoto. Choosing tabi-shiro, you will not go wrong.

Excellent room, even more spacious and beautiful than in the pictures. Very well equipped, and there's a huge supermarket next door which is very convenient. There were even games and coloring books which the kids appreciated. We had a great stay!

We had a very short but totally comfortable stay here. It's a great spot for people who are driving, as you can park directly on the property, no costs or hassles. Having said that, there's a bus stop very close by too. Our room was spacious, which is a pleasant change in Japan, and the owners very kindly made it comfortable for our particular needs. The bathroom etc was spotless and had a lovely retro interior, as did many of the decorations in the house. It gave our stay a special Showa period mood. We loved that. Very close by, there are a couple of good places to eat, so even though you are out of town, you can have a lovely meal at night. And then enjoy a quiet sleep!

easy to find and close to Aeon mall where you could find anything you want as much as possible also matsumoto castle and nawate dori street. a little bit far from matsumoto station (20 min walk) even for the bus stop but from matsumoto station you can take bus 210 line to yakusojinja and walk only 4 min. about the facilities was perfect, the room was clean, wide, comfortable and beautiful for the window view room also the owner was very kind and polite. I wish i could go back to this place again and stay more than 1 night !

My wife and I spent 2 nights here as we explored the surrounding mountains - we hiked up to Enzanso hut and Mt. Tsubakuro. The owner was extremely helpful with our planning as she helped us with the rental equipment that we needed for the climb (we could have it delivered to the guest house a few days in advance). She also informed us of the current weather/snow conditions on the mountain...thank you so much again for this, we really appreciated it!! Otherwise the guest house is very nice, clean and brand new. We saw there is a yoga studio in the same facility - but I suppose that is aimed more for local/Japanese visitors - it looked really nice though.
