CanadaThis is not your typical hotel experience. Diamond Head is a guesthouse in an older, but updated Japanese home in the peaceful little village of Mio. The owner, Owen, is a friendly, hospitable guy who is also a very good cook. He prepared excellent meals for me at dinner and breakfast, using fresh local ingredients. There is also a bar at Diamond Head if you like to drink. My room was clean and spacious, with a futon to sleep on. The night I stayed, I had the bathroom to myself. At sunrise the roosters crow, adding to the countryside charm.
