we didn’t quite know what to expect. I think the listing suffers a little from being lost in translation. So, it’s an entire apartment- 2 bedrooms, a bathroom, a well stocked kitchen, a living room, and a cosy little outside area with a table and 2 chairs. The apartment is in such a quiet part of the island, the silence at night is blissful! it’s a 30 minute walk down a footpath to the lighthouse- there is a cafe on the way. there is also a fantastic restaurant- O Farolam- 500m away. In hindsight, we would have stayed longer.

Situated in a restored 18th-century home, Casa Da Piedade offers a lounge with fireplace, outdoor garden with barbecue and brightly decorated rooms. Wi-Fi and parking are free.

This stay was one of the highlights of my Madeira trip. The villa is absolutely charming place - owners kept historic details of this 300 year house and furnished it with great taste. I loved the room (there are rooms with a view at the upper floor and rooms with garden access at the ground floor, I had a ground floor one and liked that. Very clean. Had perfect sleep. Spent evening in beautiful garden (garden is the gem of this place) . Was impressed by kindness and politeness of property manager. I wish I could stay longer.

There’s so much to like about this place- the setting is stunning with magnificent views all around, from the room, from your bed, the terrace, the pool. We really enjoyed the infinity pool. The rooms are stylish and comfortable. It’s located in a quiet, peaceful setting and relatively close to great hiking and things to do/see. Finally, Jorge was a wonderful and welcoming host with excellent recommendations.

Solar da Bica is a cosy and tranquil retreat. This comfortable guest house faces the mountains and has green natural surroundings. The Solar features accommodation in rooms and an apartment.

Very beautiful and cozy place. It has amazing view on the valley, delicious homemade breakfasts, the most comfortable mattress and pillows (I slept like a baby). Warm pool with great view. Very pleasant stay!

It's a nice apartment on the lower part of Prazeres. You will have a view on the sea and on some parts of the mountains. Lucky, there's a parking lot right next to the house and you only need 8 minute by foot to the next supermarket and pizza restaurant. The owner is very friendly and I was greeted with a clean apartment. There's a kitchen but it's only missing an oven. On the other hand, there are 2 big bedrooms, each with an own bathroom (shower and bathtubs). From there you reach Funchal within 45 minutes by car and the streets are in good condition. I made some hikes in the area and if you're not with a car, taxi (Bolt) there is no problem. Be careful about bus stops as I had trouble to find them. Overall I enjoyed the stay and would recommend it to everyone who likes to have a quiet environment and a more rural experience. For a more organised daily life, a clothes rack at the entrance would be nice so I don't need to put my jacket away in the bedroom.
