I stumbled upon it and having read the reviews gave it a go. It was even better than i expected. Toshi and Haru were absolutely lovely and helped with anything you needed. The place itself is beautiful and really felt like a home. It is close to shuttles to both the ski fields and the nightlife. I would not stay anywhere else if i returned. It was an authentic, relaxing Japanese stay.

Food (both breakfast and dinner) was great, you get breakfast buffet every morning and there’s a lot to choose from. It’s in the heart of Hakuba, everything is a short walking distance. We are definitely coming back and recommend to everyone.

Hakuba Skala Inn has both Western rooms and Japanese rooms, which have traditional futon bedding on a tatami (woven-straw) floor. All rooms are heated. The family running Skala are awesome and went so far out of their way to make sure everyone is comfortable. When we come back to hakuba this will be our first choice. Can't recommend it enough.

Three of us stayed here for 5 days. We had the best time! The accommodation was extremely clean and comfortable with great facilities, including a storage area for all of our ski and snowboard gear. There’s also a bus station right down the street that takes you to Iwatake (which you can then transfer to another bus that takes you to every resort.) The best part were the owners — they were so kind and welcoming even though we did not speak Japanese. They cooked us breakfast and dinner and both were so delicious. We highly recommend and would definitely stay again! Thank you so much for the wonderful stay😁

The location is very quiet and peaceful with nice views of the mountainside. You also get your own drying room with a separate heater, which is great for storing and drying ski gear each night. The location is perfect, it is a 1 minute walk away from a shuttle stop with free shuttles to Happo-One, Iwatake, Goryu, and 47. It is a 10-15 minute walk to central Echoland and restaurants. The hosts are great people. They are very kind and helpful. We were able to communicate easily through messaging and Google translate, and they were very responsive. They even offered to take us grocery shopping, got us seats at a good restaurant, and took us to the ski resort one morning. Their dog is cute too. They will make you feel welcome during your stay. We loved our stay and can't wait to come back!
