Miyajima Guesthouse Mikuniya is a traditional Japanese-style guesthouse located on Miyajima (Itsukushima). I thought this would be just a nice sleepover place and nothing more but it is so beautiful and has a very unique traditional feel that it made our stay on the island so much better. You even get free breakfast/dinner if you don't have time to eat outside and depart early in the morning/ don't manage to fetch a table in a reataurant in the evening because there is limited amount of restaurants that are open in late evening or early morning. The whole house is very authentic and the family that runs the place also offers a little souvenir shop with super cheap prices of local souvenirs, some even locally handmade. Thr staff is super nice and the xommom areas welcoming to spend the evenings in game/living room. Also had beautiful garden and amazing views from the rooms right on the sea

The location is very central in Setoda township so you can walk to ferries, the art gallery, the Kosanji shrine and hill of hope, and to local restaurants.

The host was exceptionally nice to us. The breakfast was very good, and the complimentary local beers were a really nice touch. Having the entire space to ourselves was good too.

Liebevoll eingerichtetrs traditionelles japanisches Haus mit sehr freundlichem, hilfsbereitem, Englisch sprechendem Gastgeber. Wir waren zu zweit, hatten die ganze obere Etage für uns. Die Betten waren bequem und wir haben das großzügige Platzangebot und den schönen mit Tatamimatten ausgelegten Raum genossen.

The location is simply stunning, the guesthouse sits peacefully on the seafront of tranquil Mukaishima Island, surrounded by lush vegetation and easily accessible by car. It's the perfect destination if you're cycling along the Shimanami Kaido. Youko is an incredible host, warm, welcoming, and exceptionally helpful. She provided excellent recommendations for bike rentals, local restaurants, and activities, and every day left thoughtful notes at reception highlighting events happening in the area. When we accidentally left our backpack (with passports inside!) at the guesthouse, she promptly mailed it to our next destination without hesitation. Our 8-year-old daughter, Alice, loved the play area in the communal dining space, bouncing on the trampoline in the garden, and meeting the resident animals: friendly sheep, two charming cats, and Maroon, the adorable dog. The property itself is spotless. We stayed in one of the Japanese-style rooms, which felt spacious by Japanese standards, and offered spectacular views over the bay. The rooftop terrace was another highlight for us. We'd wholeheartedly recommend staying here, it’s truly a special place.

Clean and comfortable, excellent location and nice kitchen area with beautiful views over the sea. The owner was very kind and friendly and has excellent local knowledge!

Gelegen in Onomichi, 70 m von Senkō-ji-Tempel, verfügt die Unterkunft Onomichi Guest House Miharashi-tei über eine Bar und Stadtblick. Onomichi Guest House blew my husband and I away. We had the pleasure of staying for NYE; there is no better place to enjoy the sunrise on January 1st. It is located right below Senkoji, the most popular temple. The cafe has an old-timey vibe and guests can use it freely to relax, including bringing in your own food. I tried the ginger latte, it was delicious. The staff is very kind. The two-person room we booked, although small, was cozy and have good storage for luggage. We did have a large and small suitcase with us, but by taking some breaks along the way we had no problem going up and down the stairs to get to the guest house. The staff can keep your bags for you outside of check-in and check-out time. Two shared toilets are in the same building as the rooms, and two showers are in a separate building next door. If you are able to handle climbing up and down stairs and don't mind sharing facilities, don't hesitate to book a night or two here.

Located on the outskirts of the city, it offers a quiet place for you to relax. Nicely decorated, comfortable beds. The garden view in the morning was nice, with a river going down the stream. Would recommend.
