This was such an unforgettable experience. We were supposed to stay for just one night but ended up staying 4! Okay, from the beginning. We had different accommodation in Hakuba, but we weren’t satisfied so we were looking for something else and found Dark Horse by chance. The moment we walked into the house, we were greeted with smiles and warmth. Andy, Rika, Momo and Hana create something truly special. We’ve stayed at hundreds of hotels and such, but this one will stay in our hearts for a long time. Everything is well thought out, you can see it’s taken care of down to the smallest detail, you can see it’s done properly and not just to be the cheapest. We felt so beautifully hosted. They also have an amazing sake collection to try, and the food is delicious too. Thank you again and we already miss it. I hope we’ll get the chance to meet again. PS. The property has mountain and garden views, and is 21 km from Jigokudani Monkey Park. Boasting family rooms, this property also provides guests with a picnic area. The property was in a nice location close enough to Iiyama Station. The hosts were some of the nicest people we have met and drove us to and from the station (6:30am!!). One of the comfiest places we have stayed and hope we can go back soon.
