I was coming back from a music festival and wasn’t sure if there were taxis operating from Echigo Yuzawa Station so I intended to do a 75-minute walk back, and she told me she was willing to pick me up. Fortunately, there were taxis making runs at 1am so I was able to make it back safely. I immensely appreciate her gesture.

We had a wonderful time at Baco Myoko. Ai, is the most amazing host. She is thoughtful, generous, and made us feel like family. She went out of her way to make our stay comfortable and memorable. She cooked delicious breakfast every morning, cooked us a traditional Japanese dinner on two of our nights there, took us to the fire festival in Nozawa Onsen and went skiing with us a couple of times. The location is perfect - right on the main street with easy access to restaurants, bars and slopes! Bedroom was spacious and we loved the onsens! Highly recommend!

Superior experience! The host Mina and her mom are very kind and offer great service! Mina is fluent in English and always tries her best to make sure I enjoy the stay. Stayed in the single room, the actual room size is bigger than it looks in the picture. Big wardrobe for storage. Complimentary breakfast is great and comes with a wide variety of drink options, but the portion might not be enough for people who normally eats a lot. The place is super convenient with a free shuttle bus stop right across the street, making it very easy to get the train station, GALA and Ishiuchi.

This was one of the best stays I’ve had in Japan. The lodge is very cosy and clean, and in the most convenient location if you’re planning to ski. It is right next to Shiga Kogen Ski Resort, and there is free shuttle bus that takes you to GALA and Ishiuichi in just 10-20 mins. Mina and her mum were wonderful hosts, warm and very helpful. They really took care of us and were so hospitable ☺️ The cafe downstairs is fantastic. Highly recommend having breakfast there. It is simple yet delicious, taste of Japanese home cooking. Desserts are quite special and a must try!

Das Haus ist ein wahrhaftiges altes, liebevoll renoviertes japanisches Haus, mit vielen Räumen, Schiebetüren, kleinen Öffnungen so dass wir uns wie in einem Märchen verzaubert fühlten. Nobu stand uns während dem Aufenthalt und auch nach der Abreise mit Tipps (☆Frühstück bei einem lokalen Künstler in den Bergen), Rat und Hilfe (vergessene Jacke) zur Seite. Das Haus ist wie eine grosse authentische Schatzkiste und das Bett ist komfortabel - wir haben aber auch auf dem Tatami geschlafen was auch komfortabel war.

What a place! Dave and Lisa run a warm, welcoming Lodge and work hard to make everyone feel at home. They are great hosts and go that extra mile to make your stay memorable. From the minute we got off the train in Myoko we were looked after. From organizing ski hire and lessons (at last minute), driving us to and from the resorts, to booking and shuttling us to dinner (and even joining us some nights), Dave and Lisa made us feel welcome. We even got a guided off-piste snow boarding tour of Madarao with Dave on a powder day. Kitsune has a relaxed and communal vibe which is in no small part the result of Dave and Lisa's caring approach to their guests. It was a truly unique and unforgettable experience. We will definitely be back Thanks Dave and Lisa.
