We extended our stay up to eight nights because it was so hard to leave. Beautiful garden and bungalows with comfortable toilets and showers. You get a lot of privacy because of the shape of the bungalow rooves. But you can always go to the bar to meet dope people (because this place attracts only dope people!) and always a nice atmosphere there. Bird (who runs it with his wife) is a one-of-a-kind character. Always smiling! He came also with little treats for us and offered to drive us and other guests on his scooter to Charlie Beach. He even took us out in the jungle for a day and talked about all the different plants he knew. So generous! The location is really nice, a few hundred metres walk away from the central "town" but surrounded by jungle and therefore lots of bats, cicadas, monitor lizards, etc to observe. Away from the big resorts and package tourists. Dig it!

They prepared a nice breakfast for us. The homestay was placed in a small fisherman village far from tourist beaches. Just what we were looking for after being in other too touristic areas.

Beautiful spacious rooms, with excellent service. The hospitality and kindness of the staff but also villagers in nearby surroundings is like we’ve never seen before. I can say we’ve made friends and they will be certainly see us back at Villa Pateh one day. When we first arrived we really looked at each other wondering if we died and went to heaven. We had seen the pictures but the place was surreal as we walked around in the homely decorated house with the calm piano music at the background. As vegans the meals were something we were slightly worried about on the first day -when we found out they mainly served local fish and meat dishes at the hotel. (which I believe would be amazing for non vegans I’m sure) But the management were so kind and helpful that the next day they found delicious solutions to make the local dishes with tofu, tempeh, mushrooms and whatnot. If you want a taste of the real Thailand, want to meet local people and if you are interested in their culture and way of living then this is the place to be. I’d thought I’d write a book as review about how an amazing time we’ve had at this place but I don’t want to ruin other people’s first impression either. Let’s say it was one of the most surprising, unexpected and uncommon holiday experience of our lives. I certainly would’ve stayed a little longer to get to know some more of these lovely locals and experience some more of that simple happiness of just being.

The best thing about the property though has to be the hosts! What a lovely couple. They were so kind to myself and my partner and made us feel very welcomed and totally at home. We had some cool conversations where one of the hosts demonstrated her impressive English! She also educated us on the 2 different types of mango trees they have on the land and also prepared one of the sweet fruits for us, it was delicious! The husband also makes his own coffee and we were lucky enough to try that too! I believe we tried a medium roast and it did not disappoint. But as a whole, the hosts really made our stay special.

San is a great host, he knows so much about what to do and see in the area, you can ask him anything. He always does his best to help you. He also took us to the local elementary school so that we could interact with the kids, for them to practice their English. Very nice experience. He also did laundry for us for a low price and cooked us some home made dinner. Everything was perfect, I would gladly come back.
