Perfectly located in a quiet street near the central plaza of the town. Beautiful property that has preserved architecture from colonial period and a touch of modernity (like the pool and well equipped communal kitchen). The walls of this hostel, like traditional houses of Barichara, are made with rocks and mud which keep the rooms cool during hot and dry days. Best price for a dorm bed compared to other hostel of this town!

La Hacienda is located a short taxi drive away from the busy San Gil, it was such a welcome break from all the noise after a few nights in town. Jane and Felipe are incredible hosts that will make you feel right at home since the minute you walk through the door. There are many spots around the property to sit back and relax and enjoy the views and tranquility. I cannot overstate this one enough: although there is a fully equipped kitchen available- don’t waste your time cooking, have Jane and Felipe prepare your meals!!! After months of rice and beans on the road (we’re vegetarian) their meals were like godsend. Jane’s spectacular curries, lasagna or falafel accompanied by Felipe’s freshly made pita, flatbread and garlic bread are reasons enough to go, I promise! Let’s not forget the pizza…. my mouth is watering just writing this. I cannot recommend them enough!!!

Great location, walking distance to all points of interests including restaurants. Beautiful set up overlooking the town. Staff were excellent with a lot of advice, kind and happy to help with everything. Breakfast was excellent. Great music and activities set up.

No complaints after my week spent there. Wifi was reliable and strong. Hostel was kept very clean. Staff were very friendly and helpful. The dog was so sweet. Very good prices on the laundry service, snacks, drinks and restaurant food. They offered a Christmas Eve meal that was classy and delicious. Chill out area in the back and lots of information for those who wish to do activities around town and in the region.

I stayed in a private room and it was the cleanest and most comfortable one I've had so far during my 2 week trip through Colombia. What I appreciated a lot was also the clean, fresh smell. Lots of places have scent diffusers which are awfully overbearing. This place didn't, which I was really grateful for.

This place is amazing! Beautiful hostel surrounded by nature. The rooms are very spacious and comfortable. The staff is incredibly nice and always making sure you have everything you need! Highly recommend this hostel to anyone going to Barichara!

I tried a few hostels in Barichara and this one was by far my favorite! Amazing location, close to everything but in a quiet street. The dorm room was huge, with comfortable beds and big lockers. The kitchen had enough equipment to cook and the common bathrooms/showers were clean and had hot water. You can also do laundry for a fee and get breakfast of eggs/arepa/fruit/coffee for 10k. Camilo is friendly and helpful and speaks perfect English in case your Spanish is not quite good yet! This place is really peaceful and welcoming, it felt like a little home and it was easy to meet other people. Great wifi as well!

Stayed in the Trip Hostel in San Gil, and like that one, was very happy with my stay. Small hostel compared to the one in San Gil. Some services like breakfast are the same, but this one lacks a pool and bar. The kitchen, however, is open to guests unlike in San Gil. The room was much bigger and offered storage space for my clothes etc. Very clean. Wifi was fast and generally reliable. It would drop for a few seconds on occasion, but very likely a problem with the service provider being in a small and rather remote town, rather than the hostel. Run by a very nice and helpful family on behalf of the owner.
