Adil and Goodwin were hosting and they are very friendly and jovial. We have a shared kitchen to cook food, and rental bicycles to roam around the beautiful Munroe island. And also its lakefront view and they have kayaking as well. I've been in the HostelExp Varkala and liked the vibe there and came here and it's worth it. Thank you Adil & Goodwin for the amazing experience

Santa Maria Hostel is a nice place to chill in the nature and get to know local or international travellers. It is a bit isolated, but in a good way: not bothered from the outer world, but Apu, the hostelguy helped us to have any needs: he brought us foods, drinks, ordered cab or boat, and so on. And was good that he also easily hang out with us, made us feeling at home. Room was okay, lake view is amazing.

Stunning location of you want access to a secluded little beach away from the hustle and bustle which gets pretty unbearable at the weekend. Lovely staff (thanks Pooja!) who helped me book my train. Rooms are basic but miraculously cool thanks to sea breeze. No mosquito problems. Nice outdoor area. Great place!

Fabulous! This has to be one of the best, if not the best, hostel that I stayed in during my travels. I do not know where to begin in terms of describing just how amazing my overall experience was. The hostel is only a month or so old so everything is, as one would expect, brand new. Setback from the road you're away from the noise and traffic and yet still only a 5minute walk to the bustling cliff area. The dorm rooms are a good size with comfy beds, privacy curtains and individual lockers. The whole place is spotlessly clean. There's a lovely chill out area upstairs with a well appointed kitchen where you can either cook for yourself or buy a delicious breakfast, lunch or dinner for around RPS150. The garden is a delight to sit in and isn't really overlooked either. What makes this place complete are the brilliant team; huge thanks to Vikram and Pintu who made me feel so welcome and provided so much fun and laughter. Book it now before it's too late!

About the hostel very shortly, well facilitated, comfortable, and neat. I do believe that people create a unique place, and this place confirms that. The host, Santos, is so generous, hospitable, and helpful. He can arrange everything, bicycle, food, trains, and I guess much more. He is communicative, polite and funny. .I wish every hotel had such a host. Thanks Chetta

Kulture KonnectT hostel seems to be a brand new hostel. Staff and vibe: Hostel staff was very friendly. General vibe of the hostel was great. All local and international travelers were hanging out together: exercising on the rooftop terrace, having dinner, playing games or discussing different things. Location: Hostel is located in one of the tiny hidden quiet street, very close to the main road, shops, pharmacy, café and restaurants, public transportation. Everything what needed for comfortable living was around 5-10 minutes of walking distance from the hostel. Beach: It took around 25 minutes to walk to the Black sand beach and 35-45 minutes to the Varkala beach. Bedroom: I was provided lower bed as requested. Shared bathroom with shower and toilet was in the bedroom. There are lockers under each bunk bed to keep personal belongings in safety, just bring your own lock! Kitchen: There is a large kitchen with everything needed for cooking own meal. Separate thanks for the electric kettle for tea-monsters like me. Dining room: Dining room looked like a large room in booking.com pictures, but in reality it was small, I would say compact. There is a filtered drinking water in the dining room. Terrace: It was amazing that hostel has several terraces on different levels. It’s possible to read book, sunbathe or hang out with other travelers on the terrace. Gym: There is a gym equipment on the terrace with jungle view. Cleaning issues: Dining table was messy all the time and nobody from the staff cared about that. Bathroom floor was always wet despite the rules posted everywhere. Wi-Fi: Free wi-fi worked well everywhere in the hostel. Overall, everything was great, safe and fun in the hostel. Hostel is the same as in booking.com pictures. I can recommend Kulture KonnectT hostel for everyone.

Yes Hostel in Varkala isn’t just a place to stay it’s a vibe, a community, and for me, a turning point. As a first time solo traveler, I was unsure about the whole hostel experience. But trusting my instincts and booking four nights here turned out to be one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. From the moment I arrived, I felt a genuine sense of belonging that completely changed my perception of hostel life. Harish, the host, is incredibly welcoming and made me feel at ease right away. Shafeeq, the ever jovial chef, brought laughter and warmth to every moment. Vineesh, the creative soul behind the hostel’s quirky art, added a splash of personality to the space. And Steven, a fellow traveler from Hyderabad, became an unexpected companion whose presence made my stay even more memorable. They helped me plan my daily itinerary and even included me in their evening hangouts walking along the cliffside beach, sharing stories, and playing endless rounds of badminton. And then there’s Angel, their adorable indie dog, who added an extra layer of comfort and companionship to my stay. She’s the kind of furry friend who makes a place feel like home. This experience completely reshaped my perception of hostels. What started as a solo trip ended with me gaining a second family. I’d choose Yes Hostel again in a heartbeat no second thoughts, no regrets. If you're looking for a place that’s not just comfortable but also filled with warmth, laughter, and unforgettable company, this is it. Highly recommended for anyone seeking more than just a stay this is where memories are made. Right in the heart of Varkala❤️ -RK✌️😇

Looking for a hostel?

Budget travellers know that there is no better way to make the most of their trip than by staying at a hostel: save money for exploring during the day, and swap stories with fellow backpackers in the shared kitchen or bar in the evening. Dorm-style bedrooms with shared bathrooms are standard hostel fare, but private rooms are also available for those willing to pay a bit more.
