The staff here are amazing—friendly, helpful, and welcoming. The room is a bit tight for the number of beds, but it’s manageable. Adding privacy curtains to the bunk beds would make a big difference, especially given the limited space.
The facilities are decent and kept clean. It’s conveniently located near the bus station. The location is great—away from the hustle and chaos of the town center and closer to the mountains, just the way I like it.
Overall, it’s a great value for money and a solid spot to meet other backpackers and solo travelers.

I have stayed four nights in total at the Jasper East Hostel where I was warmly welcomed by Angie and Michael. As a solo hiker in Jasper, Angie offered assistance and took the time to finetune my itinerary to make the most of my stay here in Jasper. I also saw her helping many other guests like that. She is just very present and involved, putting her heart into it. I was initially planning to go to the visitor centre for information, but there was no need anymore because of Angie’s input. I think this is really the added value of this hostel. The personal approach every single day. I enjoyed every minute of it. I honestly felt so at home that I could have stayed longer than four nights. After a whole day out, it feels very nice to have place to go to at the end of the day that feels a bit like home. And that is exactly what Angie did, make me feel at home. Communication was very open: “if you need anything, please just ask. If there is anything we can improve, please share it with us”. To put this in action: we actually even did some redecorating together!
I have to say that the place is much more open and cosy than how I imagined it from the pictures. The people I met at the hostel were not the typical youngsters. A bit of a calmer audience and this was just what I was looking for in this type of setting. Very social atmosphere and met a lot of lovely people and had interesting conversations. There is free coffee and tea for the taking, which is always a plus for me as well. I also liked the single room with bathroom. The outside area is very cosy as well. A visit to the brewery next door is a must! Good service and food (big portions - suggest to take any leftovers to the hostel where you can reheat them for the next day).

Among the facilities at this property are a shared kitchen and luggage storage space, along with free WiFi throughout the property. The property is non-smoking and is located 29 km from Banff Park Museum. The location of the hostel is exceptional: very secluded in the woods, on a fairly steep slope of SW exposure, lots of sunshine day time (even in winter :-), beautiful view from the deck towards Three Sisters. Main lodge and the cabins are built in classic alpine style. The place is far enough from the hwy not to hear it but close enough to downtown Canmore (5 min or so). The interior of the main lodge is very cozy and stylish (wood), too; the common use rooms are nicely decorated, etc. The staff is very welcoming and helpful.

Great location 300 meters from downtown and to the river. LRT stops 100 meters from the hotel. Big room. Guests have free access to great hottub. Safe underground parking though a bit pricy. Personal is very friendly and helpfull. Great view on river and downtow. The room is exactly as on the photo
Modern, nicely decorated, spotlessly clean. Check in staff were lovely, great location, would definitely return to this hotel, highly recommend! Excellent supermarket right across road which sold everything. Bonus was the fridge and microwave in room. Safe area, plenty of places to eat out and very large shopping centre 10 min walk from hotel.
Very clean, great location, amazing views of the mountains from the chill area and the rooms. The kitchen facilities were very good, and I liked the bed curtains for privacy and the fact the bunk beds are secured to the wall so they don’t rattle when the person above is getting into bed.
This hostel is in a great location with only a short walk to the shops. The gas station was also only a few hundred yards away. The hostel was clean and well organized, the kitchen/dining room was large and the cooking facilities were excellent. Great hostel
Hostel has a great location, staff very helpful and friendly. Also super clean and kitchens are well equipped. AC was also good in the heat it was necessary..
Great location and comfortable hostel. Nice outdoor area with mountain views
expensive for a hostel BUT cheap for the area, great location, good rooms, very clean, we had ensuite toilet & basin with shower next door to room also clean & modern. Recommend
My daughter and her friend have been staying since November. It was initially recommended to me, as a a great place to stay if you're new to Banff, as the atmosphere is both welcoming and friendly. Its not the cheapest hostel but the staff are great, the location is excellent and they both feel comfortable and safe.
