A vegetarian breakfast is available at the hostel. Place genuinely feels like home - really cozy environment and very hospitable hosts. Felt very welcomed. Plus, location is perfect because it’s close to the airport (which is a big differential given the amount I’d have spent on taxi if I had stayed at another hostel in San Jose’s city center)… and the area is really chill, with a beautiful view of the mountains and good restaurants. Definitely staying there again anytime I find myself in San Jose in the future.

Offers (unsecured) luggage storage before and after checkout. It's not safe to park on the street overnight. Katty can help arrange parking at a nearby secured lot for a few dollars.

We even got invited to the dinner with Juan - the owner of the property, and his wonderful wife and friends. Plus we also got a free excursion in the sorrounding garden where Juan grows mangos, avocados, blackberries and meny other fruits. Absolutely recommend.

The units at Arenal Poshpacker feature air conditioning and a wardrobe. This was one of my favourite accommodations in Central America. The (single) rooms are spacious with air con and a terrace, there's a pool and poolside bar, and it sort of feels like you're staying in a tropical villa with all the plants and fountains! Jenny at the tour office by reception was helpful to book tours with, and everything is walkable (including El Salto natural pools).

The hostel is situated in a quiet area, but 2 minute walk from the 'center of town'. The vibe is very relaxed, with a garden and terraces where you can sit and meet other travelers. Dorms are relatively small, but all have their own bathroom and there is plenty of room for everyone because you are out and about during the day anyway. The kitchen is big and well-equiped. At 10:30 p.m., lights and music go out, so the peace and quiet is well guarded. Staff is very friendly. The hostel offers very good and very affordable tours through RedLava Tours, but you can also explore the area yourself with an Uber. La Fortuna is lively, with plenty of bars and soda's but still it has a relaxed vibe. La Fortuna is a great hub for exploring the Arenal volcano, rainforest and hotsprings, so I recommend spending at least 3 nights.

The staff were insanely helpful — anything I needed, they handled right away and always with a great attitude. I really felt welcomed and taken care of the whole time. Wish more places worked like this. Totally recommend.

This made our trip perfect and I highly recommend the hostel for everyone who goes to La Fortuna. The rooms were clean and we had a nice balkony to sit outside. It is a great hostel to get to know others.
