Opened in April 2013 with brand new facilities, Piece Hostel Kyoto is conveniently located just a 5-minute walk from JR Kyoto Station. It features a spacious and comfortable lounge, a tatami (woven-straw) terrace and a wall-size map with latest event information around Kyoto. Free WiFi is provided throughout the property, while portable WiFi devices are available for guests to use during their stay for an additional fee.

The whole place is very clean and well organized. The staff are very friendly and videogame night is a great idea, it was fun! Also very affordable and very close to the Kyoto station.

The property is non-smoking and is set 400 metres from Kyoto Shigaku Kaikan Conference Hall. More traditional home style which I preferred. Toru was very nice, helpful, and informative. I liked the nice shared common space that made a communal feeling even though you had a private room. I slept very well!

One of the best locations in Kyoto, right next to the east district but also in a quiet street that doesn't get a lot of traffic. The breakfast is great(tons of fruits, which is a rarity in Japan) and makes this place great value. Very communal atmosphere but also plenty of privacy if you prefer it. The staff is always around to help you with anything.

This 1-star hostel offers a shared kitchen and a concierge service. The property is non-smoking and is set 1 km from Kitano Tenmangu Shrine. This is an amazing guesthouse. I wanted to have the full traditional japanese house experience and I had everything. This a traditional guesthouse with tatamis, shower and restroom in the oustide and with a beautiful little garden. The common area is cute, the decoration is beautiful. Everything is provided, clean and organised. The neighborhood is very nice, a little far away from the subway station but really close from the bus stations. Hence I only used buses in Kyoto. The staff were amazing ! But if I could say something maybe they are a little too much in a haste to clean in early morning. It’s 7 or 8 and they are already replacing stuff straight back after us so I felt a little bit like I was in the way. Maybe wait until most of the people leave around 10-11 hahaha? But this is a minor thing. Everything was really great. I loved every part of my stay and trip on Kyoto ! ARIGATOOO

They upgraded me to a private room couple of days because one guy was snoring a lot in the common room. The guest house is so cozy, traditional, clean and safe. You have lockers and stable and fast WiFi. The location is just 10 mins walking from the main spots in Kyoto.

Shin was an exceptional host, always available, explained everything very well and great English communication. I forgot my jewelry at the hostel and he went out of his way to drop it off to me before I left Kyoto. I would love to stay here again in the future and will be recommending it to friends and family. Perfect for solo travellers.

The tatami living hall is very cozy and the overall environment is quiet and nice atmosphere. Will surely come back again.

R Star Hostel Kyoto Japan is set in central Kyoto and features air-conditioned rooms. The property is around 2 km from Samurai Kembu Kyoto, 2 km from Nijo Castle and 2.5 km from Kiyomizu-dera Temple. Located in the Shimogyo Ward district, the hostel is within 2.9 km of Imperial Palace. I liked how clean it is and how regularly they clean the common spaces. It was very convenient to have a kitchen too. I love how even there’s plenty of people, I usually don’t have a problem getting to a toilet or shower cubicle.
