After seeing other reviews we didn’t have high expectations but it was not bad at all! The room was clean, the bedding and towels as well. Water was provided. They even had a little live performance in the evening!
Perfect location if you’re visiting Seoraksan.

Soon was an amazing host. He really helped me have an amazing time in Gangnueng.
This property is so close to the traditional market which is brimming with good smells and things to try. Probably the nicest I’ve seen in Korea. You can also get a bus quite easily to the lake and beach areas. You can even get a coach to and from Serokasan mountain if you leave early enough!
It’s a clean, quite place where you can make a nice breakfast or relax after a day seeing Gangnueng.

Owner was very helpful with a ton of good suggestions for food (I was satisfied with all those I tried) and general trip-planning. Facilities were good, I particularly enjoyed that you have access to a washing machine AND dryer (most hostels in SK have you air-dry your stuff). Globally a very good experience.

We came for the Danoje festival and were super happy about our stay at the Aark House. The hostel had a very homely feel to it, thanks to the lovely owner. It was clean and felt safe. We especially liked that there were curtains for the beds giving some extra privacy, towels provided, free shampoo and shower gel, and a kitchen for us to use. The house was around 15 minutes walk from the festival and the city centre which was very convenient. We would definitely recommend this place!

The hosts were very welcoming and even helped plan my time in Sokcho. The hostel itself was very clean and offered everything I needed. It's in a great location for walks along the beach into the city or catching the bus to Seoraksan park if you're up for a hike with beautiful views.
