Kani is extremely friendly and kind. He did so many things for me!! I also admire his way of thinking—he truly values encounters and connections with people. You can see it not only in his words, but also in his actions. Thank you for the precious experience in Sigiriya!! Highly recommended!!! Some people may think it’s a bit far from Sigiriya Rock, but actually the entrance is on the west side, and I believe this is one of the few places within walking distance around there.

At the hostel, the rooms have a patio with a garden view. Every room includes a safety deposit box and certain rooms will provide you with pool views. The units at Funk Bunks - Sigiriya feature air conditioning and a desk. We had an amazing stay at Funk Bunk in Sigiriya! The manager, Nishan, was super friendly and such a great guy. Our TukTuk driver, Samith, was always cheerful and full of positive energy. The food was absolutely delicious — especially the kotthu they prepared for us on the second night, with an incredible sauce! The rooms are spacious and have everything you need. Unfortunately, some monkeys damaged the roof of our first room, and it started raining inside, but Nishan immediately took care of it, helped us move to another room, and even offered us a small discount. Everything was handled so quickly and kindly. Funk Bunk is truly a hidden gem with wonderful people! The famous Pidurangala and Lion Rock are close by and they offer to drive you there by tuktuk early in the morning for sunrise or in the evening for sunset. We would definetely recommend to stay at Funk Bunk Sigiriya!

The place is clean and comfortable, breakfast was always delicious, and the one dinner I had there turned out to be the best meal of my trip — tasty, generous, and great quality. What really made it special was the people. Maliya was so kind and helpful, always there if I needed anything. He even took me to a beautiful sunset spot nearby and walked me to the bus stop when I checked out. Those small gestures really meant a lot and made the stay unforgettable. Highly recommend this place!

My teenage daughter couldn’t help but quip, “Mum, you make us look broke.” But this isn’t being broke — this is backpacking at its finest: affordable, raw, and bursting with adventure. Surrounded by towering trees, the sounds of birds, and monkeys rustling through jackfruit trees, this place is truly a hidden gem. I’ll admit, I only booked one night to test the waters, but with a perfect 10/10 rating from travellers across the globe (not just locals), I took a chance. I'm so glad I did. We had to reroute our entire trip due to heavy monsoon rains and limited accommodation options elsewhere. What began as a backup plan turned into the highlight of our journey. From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed with warmth and sincerity: “While you stay with us, you are part of our family.” And they meant it. No inflated tourist prices, no rehearsed smiles — just genuine people and heartfelt hospitality. The rooms are simple but clean and cosy with mosquito nets, and the atmosphere is something you can’t buy: peace, community, and a true slice of authentic Sri Lanka. We've stayed in far more expensive places on this trip, but none have matched the soul we found here. In a country where tourist traps can leave you feeling like a walking wallet, this place was refreshingly honest. Would I recommend it? Absolutely. Would I come back? I extended another 3 nights. For £5 a night? It’s not about saving money — it’s about gaining perspective. This is the kind of rich that stays with you.

The location is perfect — very close to Sigiriya Rock and Pidurangala, and also just a short walk or ride from the main town. It’s very convenient yet peaceful, surrounded by greenery and a relaxing garden atmosphere. The breakfast was really delicious and fresh every morning, and it’s included in the price, which makes it such great value. Everything is clean and well-maintained — the beds are comfortable, the sheets smell fresh, and the bathroom is spotless with good water pressure. They even provide a hair dryer, lockers, and free tea and coffee throughout the day, which I really appreciated. The overall vibe of the place is cozy and welcoming. The staff are friendly, and the owner, Isu, is incredibly helpful and kind. He helped me arrange a safari to Hurulu Eco Park — it was affordable, well-organized, and I got to see so many elephants up close! This hostel really offers more than expected for the price — comfort, cleanliness, good food, and a warm local touch. I would definitely stay here again and highly recommend it to anyone visiting Sigiriya!
