Muscat International Airport is 226 km away. What an unforgettable experience! The location is the best you can honestly have for Jebel Shams and the Balcony walk. We stayed 2 nights and it was perfect to get in the magical atmosphere. We were welcomed by Mr Suleiman and he was just so amazingly kind. He offered us dates and tea, and even took us on a walk to show us the best spot for the sunset. Hospitality par excellence! The rooms are basic but very clean, the beds are comfortable and the heating works very well (mid-December, it was around 7C at night). The kitchen is well equipped, we cooked pasta one night and the second night we asked for the dinner to be prepared by Mr Suleiman. Super authentic and heart-warming experience of Omani hospitality! We left yesterday, and we are already missing the magical atmosphere of the place! Btw, you can definitely do it without 4x4. Bring cash. Bring warm clothes if travelling in the winter months.
