Russell Island is one of the Southern Moreton Bay Islands. Recently they have experienced new growth. But this hasn’t detracted from the small community island vibe. (You can still stand in the middle of our street and chat with the neighbours.) what it has done is offer new services and amenities across the four islands - all of which you can enjoy via the free inter-island ferry. Our cottage is 1.8 kms from the ferry wharf/car barge, shops, cafes and swimming pool. Even closer the RSL club, one of the main entertainment venues on the island. Quite an easy walk or cycle, if you don’t want to bring your car. Russell Island also has its own very own economical taxi/bus service which meets every ferry and also takes bookings and is an experience itself. Under pressure from recent population increase, it is always a good idea to book - even from the ferry - to ensure a seat. A third transport option are the courtesy buses operated bythe RSL and Bowling clubs which will pick you up from home or the jetty totake you tothe clubs and back.
