Wedgetaildown Accommodation is located within the privately owned Kangaroo Island Wildlife Sanctuary situated on the Eleanor River. It is a place where the earth itself forms part of the rammed earth walls and where repurposed materials within the architecturally designed structure exude character and commitment to the landscape. The guesthouse is located about 18kms from Parndana and 57kms from the capital Kingscote - it is central to most attractions. The guesthouse forms the whole right wing of the homestead complex and is totally self-contained. Wedgetaildown is a place were you can forget the humdrum of your busy life, it is a place where you could believe that you are the only people left on earth.
Peter and Betty Clements have a diverse and interesting life history and have travelled widely in Australia and Overseas. They have recognised what many people are looking for in recreational holidays and they would love to share their passion for the environment and particularly Kangaroo Island. Peter is a former Mayor of Kangaroo Island and has worked for many years with the National Parks and Wildlife Service. Betty is an architectural draftsperson and has designed much of the decor and architecture of the Wedgetaildown Accommodation.
Wedgetaildown Accommodation shares around 1000acres of natural habitat some of which makes up the Kangaroo Island Wildlife Sanctuary owned by Wedgetaildown. Our neighbours are like-minded in preserving this beautiful country which was quarantined from development by farming about 40 years ago. We will often get together as neighbours to discuss how we can maintain the property's infrastructure and further enhance our very special place on Kangaroo Island.
