As a host and a Bruges native, I am delighted to welcome you as guests to the 3 Kings .
I was born in Bruges and spent my youth there. Back then, there weren't many tourists. My job drew me to the big cities of Brussels, Ghent and Antwerp.
But the beauty of Bruges called me back when I married Anne-Marie who is from Ostend. We were able to raise our son Thibault there in safety in a warm nest.
Coming home to Bruges was the best decision of our lives.
Every day we feel privileged being able to stroll around Bruges and discover things that may have been here for centuries.
Bruges is like an onion : it has so many layers waiting to be explored !
That's why we never get bored of Bruges!
3 Kings is situated in a typical Brugean neighbourhood.
The Markt, the heart of the city, is at exactly 0,7 miles. To get there, you enter the old town of Bruges through one of the 4 still existing medieval entry gates: The Kruispoort .
The first Kruispoort gate was built simultaneously with the second rampart (1304) around Bruges and already rebuilt in 1366. Philip van Artevelde destroyed the gate when he captured the city with the Ghent militia in 1382. The third gate was constructed in 1400. The the two heavy towers with their narrow passage and two octagonal turrets were preserved. Emperor Charles V, Napoleon and the German army all entered Bruges through this gate.
The "Kruispoort" is at its most beautiful in the evening, when it is literally in the spotlight.
Follow the Langestraat for about 10 minutes , it's the most eccentric street of Bruges, filled with top restaurants ( Sans Cravate *Michelin star, Franco Belge , Rock Fort, de Pepermolen), vintage shops , funky bars and you will get right into the heart of the city : the " Burg" . This square is my favourite and hides the holy blood.
In walking distance from 3 Kings ( approx. hundred - four hundred meters) you'll find: a pharmacist, a newspaper shop, a bakery, a butcher, grocery shops.... Everything you possibly need!
