Montreal is the second largest city in Canada and the entry point to Quebec province via Pierre Elliott Trudeau Airport. Montreal truly has it all. Divided into East and West by Boulevard Saint-Laurent, there are several districts to the city, each offering a distinct atmosphere.
Downtown is best explored on foot, as you weave your way through skyscrapers and visit museums such as the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts. In the winter time you can steer clear of icy paths by heading underground through the passages of the Underground City, full of shops, cinemas and food courts.
From here metros will conveniently take you outwards in any direction you might want to go, from the historic Old Montreal to the hip café and restaurant culture of the Quartier Latin-Le Village.
In summer, stay closer to the old town and head outdoors in Parc Jean-Drapeau on the St Lawrence River islands of Île Sainte-Helen and Île Notre-Dame. If the weather isn’t fine enough for rowing, water-skiing and beaches then head to the Montreal Casino.
Whether you’re visiting for festivals or fashion, gastronomy or culture, with over 190 hotels and B&Bs with Booking.com you’ll find your perfect home away from home.
There are many things to do in Montreal. Getting the Montreal Passeport and planning your trip in advance (making reservations) will do you well. Many things to do for both kids and adults. Food was great! It was our second time so we didn't do some of the things we already did before. Our itinerary went like this:
Day of arrival: 6PM Art Chaos - Spin Art and Bar, then Schwartz' Deli for Dinner
Day 2: Breakfast at Le Bisco (buffet) at Hotel Bonaventure. Montreal Biodome, Insectarium, Jean Talon Market, and Laser Tag Evolution in Marche Central. Montreal Casino in the evening. Night Swimming at Hotel Bonaventure.
Day 3: Habitat 67, Mount Royal Lookout (Kondiaronk Belvedere), Late Breakfast/Early Lunch at Le Croissanterie Figaro. Le Grande Roue (Ferris Wheel), Notre Dame Basilica, Chinatown. Late Lunch at Dobe & Andy, which was fantastic. Dragon Beard Candy. Afternoon coffee from Cafe Olimpico. Night Swimming at Hotel Bonaventure
Day 4, Day of Departure: Some decided to stay in to swim, so a couple did a breakfast run: got some chocolate babka from Boulangerie Cheskie (amazing!), a dozen croissants from Le Saint Louis (amazing again! this is to take back home too), and coffee and tea from Cafe Alphabet, which was also good. Oasis Immersion at 11:00AM (reservation for 10:40AM, but they let us i no problem). Went to Carrefour for a second to buy some fountain pen ink at Stylo.ca. Sunday Brunch at Renoir at 1:30.
Most of the activities were included in the Montreal Passeport and made it a great value. We could've done more museums, but we were with a 7 year old child, who would get bored.
We had a great time. Food was great. Lots of things to do! Definitely recommend the places we visited. The hotel pool makes staying at Hotel Bonaventure worth it, especially in snowy weather.

Montreal in March was windy and cold - you should be properly dressed! I don't like skyscrapers and high buildings, but lod ones were nice. I recommend buying a 3 day pass at the airport: it includes unlimited travels on bus and metro as well as a 747 bus from the airport.

We were there for the World Figure Skating Championships - so most of the time we were at the Belll Center. But we did go out to eat (LATE) and there were many good restaurants in the area. We did do some sightseeing (Notre Dame and the Museum of Fine Arts) - loved that. I would like to go back in the summer - ha!

We loved our first visit to Montreal.
We loved our first visit to Montreal. We were a little intimidated by it being primarily French speaking but had no problems getting around or communicating. We did a food tour, which was the highlight of our stay. We wished we could have stayed longer because we wanted to explore Mount Royal and do another tour.
We had planned to ice skate at the Old Pier under the giant wheel, but it closed one day early due to weather, so we missed it.
We also did a trip to Quebec City which was magical- highly recommended.
There were so many cute restaurants to choose from or you can Door Dash almost anything if you don’t want to go out.
The city was very walkable and we felt safe even at night. We Ubered anywhere that was too far to walk and were picked up within 1-3 minutes every time.
We plan to come back and do all the things we couldn’t due to time or season.

Montreal is like an old european country.Roads are very narrow and there are steep areas. It can be confusing esp if you dont speak french. Some areas are rundown and there are a lot of graffities which cheapens the area. Too many constructions going on. Amazed that the people in the service iindustry could speak and understand english and french. Highly recommened places: Notre Dame basilica and its Aura experience; St. Joseph oratory (very beautiful), Ferris wheel on the old port; Biodome (great for kids)

Worth visiting as the city is unique in its own right.
Worth visiting as the city is unique in its own right. Hopefully when you visit, the weather is amenable, as that can make quite the difference between wanting to hibernate indoors or wanting to explore all the city has to offer.
The hotel, while old fashioned, looked very nice and had a sort of a 1960s charm. The room was quite spacious and clean, and it had a little kitchenette, which was very useful.
The staff was very friendly and very quick to respond and solve a small complaint that we had. We also had a top floor room which gave us a very nice view of Montreal. Furthermore, the location was very good, right in the downtown area close to basically everything we needed (bars, restaurants, attractions, Mont Royal, etc.
Clean comfortable room with everything needed to have maximum flexibility and enjoyment when visiting Montreal. The hotel is very close to a subway station that serves three different lines (UQMA Berry), within walking distance of downtown / old Montreal, has parking (if required but honestly, not required) and the breakfast provided had all the basics plus fresh bagels / croissants! The room had everything you needed including kitchen, window that can open with screen.
We had an enjoyable stay. Comfortable bed & spacious suite with kitchenette. Great location being in the heart of Montreal downtown surrounded by nice resturants, shops, malls.. . Valet parking underneath the hotel building was a great with reasonable price compared to other parking garages in the area. Rostom from front desk was kind, professional with a great smile lightening my experience. Surely I would book it again for future Montreal visit.
A great hotel. The heated rooftop pool is the main highlight. The rooms are spacious and modern. The only thing may not be the most recent renovation, but it is very clean. Separately, I want to say that the bed is very comfortable. We spent 3 nights there and the next time I come to Montreal, I will definitely choose it without hesitation.
And also, everything is within walking distance - Downtown, Bell Center, the old port and old city.
This hotel is well located in Downtown Montreal close to many restaurants, bars and events. Private parking is underground and felt very secure, however this was an additional cost ($27 plus tax), which was more than expected. Room was large with a comfortable double bed and a pull out couch with bedding (the pull out couch was an average level of comfort). It was also dog friendly, which is difficult to find in this area.
Hotel is great location to The Port of Montreal, a pleasant, safe 10 minute walk. Approximately 40 minute walk to downtown Montreal, via a vibrant street. Our room was great, really comfy bed. A full kitchenette too. Hairdryer, Iron & board. Fabulous air conditioning. Nice & clean. Can't fault the reception staff, they helped with ordering cabs etc.
Very competent and friendly staff. The location is perfect and remains easily accessible in the present mess caused by the building of a new public transport system in the city centre. The hotel is pleasant, rooms are comfortable and quiet. The restaurant is very good, with excellent options for breakfast. A perfect choice for downtown Montreal.
The location is great, in a student area, three blocks to the Latin Quarter, four easy blocks to Old Montreal. IGA supermarket is five blocks away and the main downtown shopping street is a few blocks away. The hotel is very clean and our room had everything you could want. We stayed ten days. Quiet and nice.
I'd recommend this room - for a single person. Room (and bathroom are small ). Location is excellent . Hotel is in the heart - of downtown Montreal - a 10 minute walk from the train station. Restaurant on site is for breakfast ( or brunch ) only ( only open until 2 pm).
It was an excellent experience... I have stayed at few chain hotels in Canada. This hotel by far is the best experience I had at a boutique hotel..
Everything was well thought out and exceptional attention to detail.. I will definitely recommend this hotel..
All of the above. The hotel is ideal for enjoying all of the downtown diversions, and still close enough if you want to explore other parts of the city. (Old Montreal, St Laurent Blvd, China town, the Old Port, little Italy).
Located in downtown area, near metro stations and tourist attraction area like Notre Dame, china town and parks. Hassle free if traveling to YUL airport as there is bus 747 which bus stop only in front of the hotel.
The hotel is in a great location in Montreal, walking distance to old town and downtown! The interior is really beautiful and the rooms are simple but perfect. There was also an outdoor rooftop area that we loved!
Accessible to old Montreal. Also walking distance to downtown Montreal. Great location and wonderful staff. Hotel is luxurious. Restaurant food and service also excellent. Couldn’t ask for anything better
The location of the hotel is convenient for anything downtown Montreal. The train station from Quebec City arrived right to the hotel. We had a great view from our room.
in walking distance to everything in old town and downtown Montreal.
The front desk gave us good suggestions of restaurant.
The room style was wild and interesting.
