Cologne is very friendly to visitors and great to walk around. The River Rhine is very close and a lovely place to wander along or sit along the banks. The streets in Old Town are easy to navigate once you get used to the layout and there are always hidden gems around each corner. Lots of street cafes and bars to chose from, the public transport is brilliant and lots of helpful staff to answer questions. It was a pleasure to visit Cologne and is definitely a place to return to one day.

The cathedral is utterly magnificent.
The cathedral is utterly magnificent. Also the Kolumba Art Museum and Documentation Centre are worth visiting. The Ludwig Art museum is beautifully designed and had an eclectic selection of modern art. Its a very walkable city and the riverside restaurants are vibrant in the evening.

A lovely city with many varied sights and things to do.
A lovely city with many varied sights and things to do. Historical interests: the NS museum, the Dom, the Old and Belgian Quarters. Loved the modern art in the Ludwig museum. St Gereon's basilica and the Antonine Chapel just stunning. Great view at sunset from the Koln Triangle. Lovely walk through the Rheinpark and along the Rheinuhafen.
Easy to get about via train, tram, bus or walking. Little train takes you to all main sights if you want a tourist tour. Chocolate museum great fun, especially the lovely brunch at the Chocolate Cafe. Traditional biersalon Papa Joe's in Alter Mkt. Loved Peking for Chinese menu, Bona'me for Turkish fare and L'Osteria for Italian.

Cologne has two excellent art, galleries, one of the best...
Cologne has two excellent art, galleries, one of the best cathedrals in the world (guided to recommended). we did a boat trip which was fairly ordinary. I would say and the town itself was very badly bombed and now has lots of brutalist architecture. However, there are lots of beer, halls and restaurants. We had an excellent stay
Lovely family run hotel in the centre of cologne. Bed was extremely comfortable, the room was warm (it’s chilly in December), the breakfast was delicious and the wee touches you get from a boutique hotel really added to the personality of the place (we were given a chocolate St Nicholas/Santa upon arrival). The couple running it are very friendly and more than happy to help you get the most out of your stay with ideas of what to visit and where to eat. Would highly recommend.
We had 3 great nights in this hotel; it has character, in a top location (very close to a metro stop) and in a lively neighbourhood with a supermarket next door and many restaurants in the area, just walking distance away, which is really nice after a long day of exploring the city centre. The breakfast was good, with a variety of options to choose from. Vegan options too, which we apreciated. Cologne is very vegan friendly anyway, almost all restaurants had many vegan options.
Excellent location close to station. Room was comfortable. Small hotel where staff were very friendly. Breakfast was a very good selection of fresh bread, cheeses, meats etc. We would come back when in Cologne. There is a bakery close by and the old town and key sights are walkable. We used the 9 euro deutsche bahn pass for July to get across the city (and used to get around using local trains in other parts of Germany) to a meal at Pottkind which we can also recommend.
The location at first was a bit far, but when we woke up to the chirping birds and nice weather, we realized this was the best place we stayed in Europe so far. The nature around us was the best part, there is a river at the back of the hotel and a park where we could jog. The hotel was indeed a 4-star hotel that is on par with the ones we stayed in Dubai. The place was very relaxing and gave us the rest period in our weary but fun travel plans in Germany.
Great location and great value. Small but very comfy room that did all that I needed. Internet speed was the best experienced in any hotel in Germany, which was a lovely surprise. The Hotel is like Dr Who's Tardis. You walk in a small door and then come to a really nice wood paneled reception and great breakfast area. Very friendly people, super value and super convenient for the Cologne old town and river side.
acom-Hotel Cologne was located in a great place to visit the Cathedral and city centre. Although it was next to the train station you could hardly hear the trains from the room. The room was spacious and comfortable. It was clean with clean linen provided. It had a small bar fridge when made it easy to store breakfast food. The staff were friendly and helpful.
Hotel is close to the main train station as well as a number of sights and attractions in the Cologne Old Town area. Very large and clean room with great air conditioning, bed and bathroom. Also appreciated ice machines on each floor given the 93 deg. F weather in July. Super friendly and helpful staff.
I have especially liked lobby-lounge area. It is on the top floor, cosy, with comfortable furniture and good view. Hotel is few steps from airport and train station (15 min to Cologne center). I had very late inbound and early outbound flights, therefore location of hotel was perfect.
This hotel is probably the best opportunity to visit Cologne. It's quite close to the train station (15 minute walk, next to the Rhine River), rooms are quite large and very very comfortable, staff is perfect and the price is okay. Fantastic value for your money.
We had a wonderful time at the Pullman Hotel,
there have a really nice staff,
as well as a good, tasty, and diverse breakfast.
moreover, the hotel is at a great location for shopping, eating, and going out, in the main area of Cologne.
The services and customer support was very helpful and responsive. Due to several weather storms our flights were completely canceled and we never made it to Cologne :(. The hotel was very understanding and agreed to waive cancel fees.
Great hotel almost in front of Cologne Cathedral and within walking distance to two Christmas Market and train station. Staff is very nice. Room was very clean and had everything I needed for a comfortable stay.
The room is clean. Hotel is very near to Cologne train station.
Restaurants are close-by.
Very accessible to train station & airport making a convenient stopover and carry-on to the next destination!
A brand new hotel close to CGN airport. Will require some more time before the surroundings will be 'greener' but a perfect location for passengers to and from Cologne airport
Lovely boutique hotel - a nicely redone former monastery, friendly staff in one of Cologne‘s not-so touristy areas, but with easy access to the centre and the river.
