The Geiseltalsee in southern Saxony-Anhalt is one of the top excursion destinations in the Saale-Unstrut region and of course the destination to rent your houseboat. The lake, which emerged from a former lignite mining area, is not only the largest artificial lake in Germany, it is also impressively surrounded by vineyards and offers countless recreational opportunities on its banks - and very close to Leipzig. The Leipzig lake landscape has meanwhile blossomed into a uniquely beautiful holiday region that is just really gaining momentum.
