Hi we are Dan and Viv your hosts and we are both passionate about art and animals, hence you will see our artwork around the property. We want visitors to enjoy our retreat home and the facilities for either relaxation, or as a base to explore our lovely region. Dan is a local mosaicist/commissioned artist and Viv is an animal and pet portrait artist. We have lots of experience in accommodating guests who have visited over the years, to enjoy classes in mosaic making and Yoga and Pilates. In the past we have taken in rescue dogs, some of which still live with us, so our home is ideally suited to animal lovers, although we are mindful of those guests who might not want the dogs around. We are always available to assist or advise on getting the best experience for your stay in the region and the places of interest to visit.

While we do not offer air conditioning, the thick village walls and natural ventilation help keep the rooms cool, and fans are available on request. Guests are welcome to relax in the shaded garden, enjoy a good book on the terrace, or explore the surrounding countryside. The peaceful setting makes it ideal for rest, reflection, or creative time. We’re perfectly located for day trips to Cartagena’s Roman amphitheatre, portside cafés, and vibrant markets—or a sun-soaked afternoon at the beach. El Portús, known for its unspoiled cove and natural beauty, is only 20 minutes by car. Free on-street parking is available, and WiFi is provided throughout the property.

La Magdalena is a pretty rural village in the countryside of the city of Cartagena, in the region of Murcia, Spain. The village is surrounded by almond groves and vegetable crops but has easy access to the whole region. Murcia International Airport is only 25mins away and Alicante airport 1hr 10mins by car but you can catch a coach from both airports to Cartagena then a short taxi ride to Tara Casa Cartagena is an ancient harbour city with lots of historic attractions to explore. Good restaurants, museums and a great shopping centre. Up and down the coast around Cartagena there are lots of unspoilt beaches but also larger ports and villages for tourists. The port of Mazarron is just 25mins away and has numerous unspoilt beaches, all along the coastline. From Tara Casathe nearest beach is El Portus, which is only 15mins by car, it is relaxed and unspoilt and the best kept secret of this area, with no tourists. Advisable to take a picnic, as apart from a seasonal small bar, there are no shops or cafes. Perfectly peaceful!! The city of Murcia and the range of mountains, the Sierra Espuna, a stunning nature reserve are 45mins by car and make for a great day out exploring.
